SRR was great no doubt. But his first fight with Basilio damages him significantly in my eyes. The physical advantages he had over the smaller, weaker, slower and less skilled Basilio should have seen him dominate... was there a story behind that or just a flat night?

He wasn't necessarily smaller. They were both natural welterweights, and I think Robinson was past it at that point. Also Basilio had a granite chin.

Yeah, Basilio was definitely a tough guy, and you're right that Robinson was already in the twilight of his career but he was a lot bigger! Take another look at the two of them together. SRR had a *much* bigger frame than Basilio. Probably I shouldn't make too much of that fight, but the physical difference was striking to me...

Well, like I said, Basilio's head was probably made out of solid steel, and he was nearly impossible to stun, let alone knock out, so it's no suprise that even with Robinson's "bigger frame", that he couldn't ko Basilio.
