Who had the best jab out of all of the heavyweights? I said Holmes. His jab didn't set things up, it was the punch. Who do you think had the best jab though, because that was only my opinion.

BrooklynBomber 03-03-2007, 11:44 PM Its a split up between Louis, Lewis and Holmes. bill1234 03-03-2007, 11:46 PM In order, I would rate jabs as 1. Larry Holmes 2. Muhammad Ali (very close to Holmes) 3. Lennox Lewis 4. Sonny Liston 5. Joe Louis 6. Floyd Patterson Brassangel 03-03-2007, 11:53 PM Believe it or not, I felt as though Donavan "Razor" Ruddock had an amazing jab before he became obsessed with "the Smash!". Watch the sparring footage of Ruddock and Holmes; he gave Larry fits. bill1234 03-03-2007, 11:55 PM Believe it or not, I felt as though Donavan "Razor" Ruddock had an amazing jab before he became obsessed with "the Smash!". Watch the sparring footage of Ruddock and Holmes; he gave Larry fits. That was just sparring though, in a real fight Larry would throw more, and harder/faster punches. Rudyo 03-04-2007, 12:23 AM I would actually go with Liston, he had huge arms and a piston like jab which could hurt a fighter on the jab alone. It was a piston like jab and very sharp. 1. Liston 2. Lewis 3. Holmes 4. Ali 5. Louis 6. Patterson Dempsey 1919 03-04-2007, 01:16 AM 1. Liston 2. Ali 3. Holmes 4. Louis 5. Foreman The Raging Bull 03-04-2007, 06:17 AM 1) Louis 2) Holmes 3) Ali 4) Liston 5) Lewis hemichromis 03-04-2007, 07:36 AM power: Liston, foreman or bruno all round versatilty has to go to holmes. HIs jab was almost as powerful as the above but it was also very quick and accurate bill1234 03-04-2007, 10:20 AM Something that very few fighters has done is KO an oppent with a jab, and Holmes did that earlier in his career, and he knocked a guy down with a jab. Very few have done this. adietheforestfa 03-04-2007, 07:40 PM Lennox Lewis. Mick Hucknall 03-04-2007, 07:58 PM Holmes in my opinio followed by Liston ceboxer15 03-04-2007, 09:22 PM my list: 1. Liston 2. Holmes 3. Ali 4. Lewis 5. Louis 6. Patterson Dempsey 1919 03-04-2007, 10:09 PM Something that very few fighters has done is KO an oppent with a jab, and Holmes did that earlier in his career, and he knocked a guy down with a jab. Very few have done this. Ali did it, too. Southpaw Stinger 03-04-2007, 10:28 PM Liston followed closely by Holmes then ALi then Louis. I don't think Tyson should be even on this poll. Dynamite76 03-05-2007, 11:37 AM larry holmes. Bucktown Beast 03-05-2007, 11:45 AM Definitely Holmes. He had a jab like some people's right hands. RAESAAD II 03-05-2007, 11:51 AM I say Holmes...... bill1234 03-05-2007, 04:40 PM Ali did it, too. Against who? bill1234 03-05-2007, 04:41 PM Liston followed closely by Holmes then ALi then Louis. I don't think Tyson should be even on this poll. He's not on the poll. Dempsey 1919 03-05-2007, 06:18 PM Against who? Patterson, Buster Mathis, etc. Mistadobalina 03-05-2007, 06:27 PM can someone please explain there reasoning for lennox lewis being a top 5 HW jabber? he had a good jab, i can even see him being within the top 10, but not way up there. i think mercer had a better jab than lewis, and bruno outjabbed lewis as well. anyway... holmes liston ali louis bill1234 03-05-2007, 08:39 PM Patterson, Buster Mathis, etc. Who is in the etc? That is 2. Dempsey 1919 03-05-2007, 11:31 PM Who is in the etc? That is 2. I don't remember, but it's at least those two. hemichromis 03-06-2007, 01:16 PM can someone please explain there reasoning for lennox lewis being a top 5 HW jabber? he had a good jab, i can even see him being within the top 10, but not way up there. i think mercer had a better jab than lewis, and bruno outjabbed lewis as well. anyway... holmes liston ali louis i agree about lewis he pawed far more than he should have done. Bruno, however did have a very good jab King Koyle 03-07-2007, 11:45 AM Liston or Holmes IMO... |
