I just watched Toney-McCallum 91 again. I cannot think of another fight with fighters who are so insanely skilled. BOTH of them.

and James Toney at 23 could hang in there with a 35yo body snatcher in terms of smarts.

and a 35 years old mccallum was fighting a young lights out at an unbelievable pace.

awesome fight

other fights with great displays of skills off the top of my head:
walcott-charles
jones-hopkins
jones-toney (but jones spoils both matchups because of his being so unorthodox)
Barrera-Morales 1&2 (not quite there, but i was always impressed)
Benitez-Leonard
Chavez-Rosario (for inside fighting but chavez was just too much)
Monzon-Napoles (but I still dont know if monzon is skilled at his weird style, or just a freak of nature)
louis vs walcott, charles, conn

go on
to qualify both fighters must be skilled and give a close fight (ok take jt-rj off the list)

Great match-ups. The first Toney-McCallum clash is one of my favorites.

You can't beat the first Toney-McCallum fight for a boxing 101.

i am glad i am not the only one,

when i first saw that fight i never boxed, now i am mesmerized by it, every time i watch it i notice something: this time i was star struck by those split second pauses they take, to take each other's timing off (I guess). but they both do it, so the effect is not what expected. awesome fight.
