Yves Edwards has made a good living on filling in for different fighters and getting some wins. It appears this will no different for Edwards at UFC 41. Yves Edwards will replace the injured Josh Thomson to take on Genki Sudo from Atlantic City on February 28th.
Yves told MMAWeekly.com this weekend "I'm looking forward to the expierence of fighting the quality of fighter like Genki Sudo. He is a very good fighter and I believe in fighting the best. I feel I will have to be very aggresive and take the fight to him. I'm looking forward to it and it will be nice to be back in the UFC."
Edwards has been very impressive as of late. He has knocked out his last two opponents and has faced some of the best competition in the world facing the likes of Caol Uno, Matt Serra, Aaron Riley, Rumina Sato, Nathan Marquardt and Fabiano Iha.
For Thomson it's been a very tough thing to deal with as far as injuries go. He has been signed for quite awhile with the UFC, but the last time he was supposed to fight for Zuffa, he sustained an injury. Oddly enough, it was Yves Edwards feeling in for Thomson and getting the KO over Joao Piereni at UFC 37.5.
Thomson actual tore the ligaments in his foot. It was an injury he sustained at the WFA show against Razor Rob McCullough. Thomson was dominant in the fight and impressive in the win, but had tore the ligaments back then. Now he re-injured them sparring with Eugene Jackson. So Josh is out and it will be Yves Edwards facing Genki Sudo at UFC 41.
