View Full Version : Cung Le
Nodogoshi 03-01-2007, 11:38 PM As most of you probably already know, hes a San Shou champ who recently crossed over to MMA. Personally i was really impressed when i first saw these videos as it seems he a great skill set and looks to be more refined than most of the guys in MMA, especially in the kicking department. So what do u all think of this guy?

The last one was suppose to be his first test against a live opponent but he ended up cutting him with the first kick he through. Figured I'd through it in anyways.
I think he won't be able to get away with the scissor takedown in MMA.

Yeah i agree, but i'm currious to see what other ground skills he has besides takedowns. He does have alot more than just the scissor kick in the takedown department too, thats just what hes famous for.

Yeah I know, I was being ridiculous.
His boxing skill is pretty stout, and he's a good striker. He is also in great physical shape............we'll see.
I think if he does good at this.....It makes me think about Don the dragon Wilson and how good he might have been at MMA.
I'm not joking.

your right...san shou isnt mma....those takedowns are cool and all..but they wont work too well in mma....his striking is good!

I think a lot of people look at Don "The Dragon" Wilson as just a cheesy B-movie action guy. But he was a damn good kickboxer. One of the best kickboxing fights i've ever seen was Wilson vs Branco Cikatic.
Nodogoshi 03-02-2007, 12:02 AM I'm currious to see if he actually has the will to try and be a player in MMA or if hes just looking to get a few wins against softies to polish his resume. If he wants to be in the spotlight though MMA is the place and not San Shou, and I think he probably realizes that. Guess we'll have to wait and see if he really wants to be a fighter and fight real guys or not.

My thoughts exactly, his skills are definatly for real but i havent really seen him in against anyone near his level. I understand him getting a couple free bees for his first fights in MMA, but I think he needs to step it up a bit now. I think a flashy guy like him could really do alot for the sport, but hes gonna have to fight better guys.
Atnan 03-02-2007, 10:32 AM i love his wrist throws and his spinning kicks/fist
i've actually trained with cung. cung's from san jose, my brother and he went to school @ san jose high and cung was a wee thing, my bro tells me, back then. cung's ridiculously intense and we always would tell him to go MMA or Elite; but because of his gym in san jo and family - he always said that it wasn't for him. now the money's good, so things have changed. i hope he reps san jo.
i was there for cung and frank shamrock sparring - twice, those two animals circling eachother was way too much for everyone there.

EC_Raider_07 03-03-2007, 08:16 PM So far, Cung hasn't fought anyone but a few bums.
And Frank is a good fighter and all, but pretty over hyped.
