Dont listen to grime at all, because I went off garage ages ago, and its just that but hardcore...

I find it funny when I go to clubs there is massive sign up ¨not taking requests for grime, crapcore etc etc¨

Yeah i'm not surprised, most places i've been in where they played a bit of grime in a commerical club just makes the place turn moody.

I love going to big grime raves tho, practically all the MC's hate eachother or have some kind of beef with someone so you just catch jokes off it all.

On a whole though the scene is dead. The godfather of grime Wiley has just recently retired which is a huge loss. He came out on 1xtra and said he was too shook to carry on because of so many death threats ect.

lol

Yeah I figured it was cos all the little girls in the club want to listen to Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado and if they dont get their way then they throw a ****ing hissy fit.

In that sense it would suck to be a DJ, knowing the amount of decent tunes there are out there and never being able to pass on the knowledge to anyone else, cos everyone is so set on listening to what they hear on MTV... they wont give anything else a chance.

lol never looked at it in that way but most heads that know understand that grime lyrics are generally moody and warish and will be enough to turn anyones brain.

But yeah going on to your bit about DJ's, it's really their job to know what people want to hear. For e.g if you go to a commerical/cheese club the crowd will always want to hear more mainstream music like chart stuff whereas if you hit a club that is in an urban area you will know that the majority of heads will want more urban type flavas. It's called selective playing.

You're spot on though, I know if I was a DJ and had to play **** music I never liked just to please a crowd I don't think I would carry on with it as I would just get pissed off. Personally I think a DJ should represent the music he likes and not just because the crowd like it, having said that all successful and big DJ's will always play to the feel of the crowd.
