I'm new to weight training and wanted to know if it was cool to do them everyday. I started last week with one day on, one day off, but the trainer said it wouldn't be bad to them everyday. He lifts 6 days a week. Is it OK to do it 6 days a week?

Depends on a lot. But the safe answer is no. Now it does depend on if you're lifting heavy or not. Also, as long as you're doing different muscles, say upper body one day, and lower the next, than go for it, you really shouldn't run into many problems so long as you're in ok shape already.

Peace,
Trick

Thanks. I'm in good shape already and don't really max out on the weights, and I also get in my cardio and calisthenics, along with the boxing training. Is it OK as long as I don't max out?

I just started lifting myself a few weeks ago and like Trick said, i opted to train 5 days in a row but always working different muscles each day. I never work the same muscles two days in a row.
I sometimes take a rest day when i would usually train if i feel i have still not recovered properly.

What are the downsides of working the same muscles 2 days in a row? I tend to do full body workouts every time out, can that wear muscles out?

They cant recover and thus they dont develop properly and there is a risk of injuring them.
But that is if you do weight lifting, if you do body weight exercises, you can do them every day.
I do.

I do.

They can recover if your body gets used to it, but you'd have to start slowly and gradually add on tension. But if you do have it to where your muscles are used to it and recover overnight, you'll get stronger but you won't have room/time to grow. My friend works out everyday and his muscles are used to it. He weighs noticeably less than me, but he's up to par with my strength in some exercises.

I used to lift weights every single day before I boxed. I had one day for chest, one for tricep, one for back, one for bicep, one for shoulders, one for quads and hams, and the last day for calves and forearms. I only did that for about 4 months but with a mass gaining diet I ****ING BLEW UP. People noticed gains within the first few weeks. Each session would be 2 hours long, and each muscle would have 7 days to fully recover after the major workout I gave it. Since I started boxing I've lost 13lbs  but some of it was fat. If you're going to box I wouldn't recommend lifting weights 6 days. But if you're not and you have the time, take the advantage and work out everyday but different muscles.

you are dead on...since i take creatine, my muscles have the capability to lift every day, i usually dont max out but 1 day a week. but i do 10x10 circuits of 15 reps a set, working every major muscle group at low-mid resistance, and my muscles are never sore when i wake up the next day...but like you said it varies with everyone.

Yeah it does vary with everyone. You can only train your brain and your muscles so much given your individual genetics.

I dont believe in working the same muscles two days in a row, and you shouldnt have to. I used to do triceps, chest, legs one day, then biceps, forearms, shoulders, back. Like that. I would usually do mon. tues. then wed. off then thur. fri. Weight lifting four times a week should be fine if you just want to gradually get stronger and look bigger. If you want to be a straight up body builder then its a bit more hardcore. More like 5-6 days a week.

I agree with the bodyweight excercises. When I mean working the same muscles I mean strenuous lifting. With freeweights, machines, etc.
