View Full Version : rampage vs iceman
aspect 02-10-2007, 05:22 PM well we all know this fight is going to happen in the near future.
I had watch it again, and also see the highlights of the fight.
imo difference in rules will be the key factor here of who will win this time.
imho rampage is the more complete fighter between the 2.
he got some good boxing skills, knees when he clinch and ofcourse a good wrestling background.
iceman on the other hand have some quick hands, though he seldom uses his feet to kick, he is the type that will keep the fight standing.
and those straight up non stop punching is the most lethal against any haymakers or looping punches that rampage seldom use.
my observations about the fights:
rampage win coz of the ff:
knees are allowed to the head, when you get in the north/south positin you can strike too, unlike ufc.the gnp is much dangerous in pride coz of also they allowed stomps.
iceman lost coz of:
he said it himself and it was clear on the vidz he is trying to grab the ropes for assistance when he is getting gnp by rampage.
now in the ufc:
rampage can not knee on the head anymore.
and if iceman is on top there is elbows to add in the gnp.very dangerous when you trap your opponent at the corner.
the octagon is much bigger than the ring so if iceman decided to play def. rampage really gotta have alot of gas to chase him plus he got some good tackle defense and he wouldnt allow rampage to clinch him for the trademark slams.and if rampage take iceman down he is allowed to pull himself up unlike in pride(the only thing he complain about )
so what do you guys think would be the key factor here on their nextmatch that will lead to dis/advantage of both participants.
Chuck's sprawl is pretty good, but Rampage is the better overall athlete....there's really not doubt about it.
He's stronger, faster, better on the ground, and can wear Chuck down 9/10 times. That's not saying that he can't get caught.
Because if they're standing up the whole time...which this time I doubt Jackson would try and box, he could eat a straight right. I'd still lean towards Jackson outworking Lidell and winning a decision.
I'm not sure if he'd stop Chuck again.

But wouldnt you agree that Rampage has somewhat changed his warrior mentality like he had previous to the losses to Silva. I mean asking for sparring partners on TV...C'mon!!!!

Have you seen how many people Chuck has knocked out since that first fight?
Liaison 02-10-2007, 07:08 PM I really don’t think Rampage is up to beating Liddell and that’s why he’s in UFC, to lose to Chuck and open up a Chuck/Silva money making bonanza.
While Chuck is training his ass off in the gym, Jackson is down Burger King pestering some worker for some bbq sauce and that’s the difference between them, ones dedicated, the other isn’t and that’s why chuck would win.
Sin City 02-10-2007, 07:18 PM Chuck Norris KO's both at same time in under 40 sec.

as much as I see rampage being a better over all.I cant help but shake my head coz what you said is true.well hopefully we see silva iceman soon
robot_monkey 02-11-2007, 04:16 AM I see Rampage losing, only because he beats himself. I really don't even care for this one. It is true that Chuck has not had any competition. As for Chuck/Silva...I hope it happens when I have some money...because I have to be in the house for that one. And then, Chuck/Hua.
I think Rampage needs a little time to adjust to the American audience. I know that all the bull**** he talks is sometimes because of an inferiority complex that he has. I think he fears getting knocked out like he has before. Once a person becomes afraid of being knocked out, they can't fight with confidence.
This upcoming UFC is a bust. The next one looks like a little better. The only bout I might want to see is Koscheck/Sanchez. I know Sanchez will pull it off. I hope he works Sanchez, but I'll wait for someone to post it. I'm out until the summer.
Let's get something new going. Cro Cop will be the man to look for. And of course we have to give Sanchez his title shot with GSP.

i dont no...now that i look at it......rampage doesnt have to fear fighting off his back, if anything...i see rampage on top! chuck isnt a better wrestler and doesnt have better takedowns! chuck is gonna do what he does best, and thats strike....i think rampages kickboxing coach is amazing and rampage is a naturally boxer, his stance and the way he throws his punches are perfect....rampage also sticks to his gameplan very very well! i somehow see this fight with rampage on top pounding iceman to a tko
Harms 02-12-2007, 12:14 PM But wouldnt you agree that Rampage has somewhat changed his warrior mentality like he had previous to the losses to Silva. I mean asking for sparring partners on TV...C'mon!!!!
Once Chute Box got a hold of Rampage, he's become a different type of fighter. He looked good against Eastman.
They both throw wild punches that destroy the other person. Rampage's chin seems a bit better, I lean toward Rampage winning.
macedog 02-12-2007, 12:26 PM I don"t see rampage taking chuck down if Tito could'nt Tito is one of the best ground and pounders out there and he could'nt take chuck off his feet, rampage surlely not. ramps only chance would be to catch him and knock him down like before but i dont see that happening now. after watching ramp in that first fight he is nowhere near liddell or the fighter he use to be the beastman was giving him a pretty good fight till he ran uot of gas. and stood in front of him. And we know he is not one of the elite.

tito`s takedowns are far from the best in the bussiness....all he has is his silly wreslting takedowns....go watch fedor and his hip throws and judo throws if you want real takedowns

Doesn't matter. He hasn't even fought a decent striker. Pick'em.

easy....chuck by nsac ( thiers no way wand passes the drug test LOL)
honestly thou, the way wand has been fighting latley, hes has a good chance of getting knocked out! he didnt look like himself in his last fight, but i cant count out him out just yet, i think wand has a good 3-4 prime fights left in him! along with chuck also being a sloppy striker, its going to be a great fight full of drama....is wand comes to the fight in a+ shape, wand by KO....

He ****ing lost to Crocop !! best striker in mma , **** chuck , chucks name shouldn't be near mirkos . and before that he tko'd ironhead fujita. if chuck stands with wanderlei , hes getting Ko'd , chuck got stunned by alistair , by mezger, and was stopped by rampage , wanderlei puts him to sleep , he has dynamite in his hands ,and he uses his legs knees much more .... chucks rarely uses them , only way chuck wins is by some lucky punch ....

ohh i understand what your saying, but wand just looked slow in his last fight....like he didnt want to be in thier! wand for sure has enuff power to knock chuck out ( ive been saying that for a while) and i love the fact that you brought up the alistar example  too many people on these forums hug chucks nuts way too much and have no idea that hes not that good of a striker....i just hope wand bounces back from a horrible lost, and looks impressive aganist hendo
Liaison 02-18-2007, 02:22 PM Seems like UFC 71 will be the Judgement Day, if true, way to soon, Rampage needs atleast a couple more fights.

they should seriously push at least till 74/75....i think ufc should have ufc 70 card where both rampage/cro-cop and both chuck/sylvia are in the same card/same night!
example:
Rampage v.s. Rashadd Evans
Cro-Cop v.s. Andrei Arsolviski
Chuck v.s. Loyoto Machida ( Title)
Sylvia v.s. Brandon Vera (Title)
which will easily set-up title matches if all 4 win and a great way of promotion!
All fights are going to be competivie as **** and i honestly wouldnt be surprised at all to see chuck/sylvia lose!

Damn...if only dreams came true. Dana is a cunt and will probably have a bunch of overmatched opponents on that card..like usual.

you cant say that....dana white said he wants to give cro-cop another quick fight and a title match asap! he also said he wants to give rampage at LEAST ( i repeat) AT LEAST another 2-3 fights before chuck! all these fights have a good chance of happening except for probably chuck/machida -which is going to be a real bad/hard fight for chuck-

well he doesnt deal with any fight decisions...thats all joe silva - the promoter ( he is that real small/short guy who a lot of fighters hug right after they win )! i talked to him before on the mmaweekly radio show and he was EXTREMELY cool and a Real Nice GUY! he knows his **** and he knows exactly what hes doing! i mean, he was right about evan tanner and the Crow ( david losiusa)
Liaison 02-18-2007, 07:10 PM Cro-Cop v.s. Andrei Arsolviski
Dana would never put Arsolviski in with any serious threat let alone with CroCop. He’s made no secret he's a fan of Arlovski's. and with Andrei coming off 2 losses in his last three fights, he’d want to build "The Pitbull" back up before putting him in a situation/fight where he might very well lose.
And man I hope Ortiz vs. Griffin II will come about at 70 as the rumoured matches sound other rumoured matches sound **** (Griffin FTW!!!), especially with a crap main event (Gonzaga for ****s sake)
robot_monkey 02-19-2007, 09:33 PM Dana is waiting for Wanderlai to lose his edge before putting him in the ring against his poster boy. That way he can build Wandelai based on his past, in a match against Chuck, but guar·an·tee a win for Chuck.
Rampage has been beaten' up, now Dana owns him.
CroCop beat Wanderlai and Dana blew him off. He only promoted the fight between Chuck and Wanderlai because he knew Wanderlai would lose and then he would disqualify Wanderlai. He would acquire CroCop without threatening his light heavyweight champion, yet redeem himself in the eyes of the fans. Clever guy, that Dana White is.
Chuck only fights in rematches because a great story is created by these rematches. Chuck is the hero who is out for vengeance and we are all suckers
following along. Instead of putting two top fighters against each other we get soap opera drama which always results in a weak bout. The drama would be great if there was any substance.
Rampage has no reason to fight Chuck Liddell. I bet when they promote this one they never show rampage getting his ass kicked by Wanderlai. That would automatically reveal the bull**** they are trying to serve.
Chuck will go down in history as the great American Hero, another Hulk Hogan, and his matches will be no different.
Am I paranoid? No! Just look at the expression on Dana's face when he had to crown Anderson Silva as the middleweight champ. He allowed Anderson to fight Chris Leben and he probably loved it, but he was counting on Franklin to beat Silva. To his dismay Silva kept the belt.
I will support Tim Sylvia in defending his title against Randy Couture.
I think fighters should never be given a rematch unless there is a quick and surprising knockout after a great bout, a questionable stoppage or if the fight was one sided and ended quickly, or if the fighter works his way through formidable opponents; opponents that might have beaten the champ before.
The only matches I am looking forward to is:
1. Sanchez vs Koschek
2. Franklin vs A. Silva
3. CroCop vs Sylvia
4. CroCop vs Arlovski
5. Liddell vs W. Silva
6. Liddell vs Machida
7. Liddell vs Rua
...and then Liddell vs Jackson as both guys would have, by this time, gotten' their asses whopped by the above named opponents.

i agree with all that and knew most of it, but i didnt want to post it because i was afraid people were going to call me crazy.....lol i guess iam not anymore!
iam very intrested in seeing machida and liddell...i think it would make for a killer fight and i think style wise, its a bad match for liddell!
just curious, how do you see a fight with machida/liddell go?
robot_monkey 02-20-2007, 10:12 PM After being dominated, backpeddlings, Liddell delivers a one-shot knockout.
juge_69 02-22-2007, 12:51 PM I don"t see rampage taking chuck down if Tito could'nt Tito is one of the best ground and pounders out there and he could'nt take chuck off his feet, rampage surlely not. ramps only chance would be to catch him and knock him down like before but i dont see that happening now. after watching ramp in that first fight he is nowhere near liddell or the fighter he use to be the beastman was giving him a pretty good fight till he ran uot of gas. and stood in front of him. Tito was also trying to shoot in from to far out, all Liddell had to do is drop down and stuff the takedown. Rampage is the strongest LHW in the world and takes fighters down from the clinch which is a lot smarter than trying to shoot from a distance. Rampage is also good friends with Sugar Shane so you know he trains standup with him, Rampage was defending those looping and wild hooks Chuck tried to throw when they first fought.
Rampage is much quicker, stronger and more agressive and the better striker than Liddell.
Rampage came in nervous against Eastman, not once during the fight was he in any danger. He got comfortable by the second round and finished the fight in grand fashion.

Atnan 02-24-2007, 10:23 AM their talking about rampage/iceman at ufc 71....i think its a lil too soon for rampage...i just want to see more of chuck and i kno for a fact chuck wants to fight more than 2 a year! i say you put in chuck v.s. keith jardine/rashadd evans!
