I look at many p4p best ever lists and on very few i find sandy saddler on them but willie pep is rated in the top 5 often... I agree with people that he was indeed a defensive master and his technique was amazing but saddler beat him 3 out of 4 times. I know Willie Pep had the accident but i don't know enough about Pep or saddler to judge why one is above the other. I s'pose it due to the fact Pep has almost twice the no. of fights but Saddler must have proved himself a p4p best to defeat Pep that many times. Can someone please elaborate. Thanks

Most of pep's big wins came after the crash, not before. Saddler is definetly the best opponent he has ever fought.

so why is he placed higher cause all the big wins were after the crash ? ye?

The historians dont like saddler for some reason, i think he's better.

I thort so too..... but lots of people argue that pep is better than Ray robinson ? :S it was in a recent thread i think? I don't agree with that. But I really thort saddler was better.. an i wasn't aware that he trained george Foreman till recently...

Foreman is a lucky bastard, both saddler and archie moore helped train him. Thats 2 major legends, he also had angelo dundee too.

Sandy is definetly better..He knocked out Pep three out of four times. Most historians don't give him his due because he was a dirty fighter.
