Jayhui 02-06-2007, 05:07 PM Does anyone in the right mind think Serra will the fight. Sgp will beat him on the ground or standup. That is a waste of money and time.
Deigo vs Kosh, should be a good fight. I hate both of these guys, both can't just shut up. But it should entertaining.
Any thoughts here? what is going on with Bj penn isn't he heal from the matt hughes fight. Shouldn't he be looking back at the belt?

I don't really see much of a chance in Serra getting the best of GSP on the ground, which is his only hope. While I do give the advantage in subs to Serra, I don't think it'll play enough factor as the differnce isn't that huge.
btw I ordered my tickets yesterday.
Looking forward to my first UFC card.

BigCol 02-06-2007, 10:05 PM Serra is a grappling master but GSP is too explosive and powerful when he fights standup. He has two choices, he can either:
A) Keep the fight standup and give Serra a sustained beating over a round or two (It won't go past two rounds)
or
B) Mix in striking with grappling and groundwork and give Serra a sustained beating over two rounds.
Either way Serra is getting knocked out unless he pulls something out of his ass which is entirely possible.
moetorious 02-06-2007, 10:55 PM gsp is also a good grappler, hes a brown belt in jujitsu so i doubt serra would have a easy time on the ground with gsp. my prediction would be serra would get knocked out cuz
1. he doesnt have any stand up skills
2.his takedowns are very sloppy and i doubt he would even put his hands around gsp.
3.he couldtn do **** on the ground against chris lytle.
but its possible for serra to submit gsp thou.

If bj penn is fighting for the lightweight belt. Then Dana White should just give him the belt. It could be the UFC is trying to upgrade the lightweight division with BJ penn in it. Since the lightweight division really has no talent.
The muscle man is a joke.
He should fight Sgp again, he is the only guy that gave sgp a beating.

he is gonna fight Jens Pulver at the end of the TUF season and the winner will get a crack at at the LW crown
Atnan 02-08-2007, 11:46 PM first off serra is a great grappler...but this is mma, not grappling! gsp is too fast, much stronger and hes got a great ground game of his own! the only way to beat gsp is top knotch striking and an amazing take down defense - serra`s take downs are sloppy, has ****ty tk defense and his striking sucks!

The guy works with the gracie family and they are the best BJJ in the world, Serra's goal was to accomplish what royce did back in the old UFC, small guy making the bigger guys submit when all odds are against him. He said that in a interview before, I dont know who to cheer for on this one, gsp is a superior fighter and serra is a good grappler with nice takedowns and submissions. forgot to mention that gsp is canadian so GO GSP!
