Moby claims the reason he was attacked in Boston was because the men thought he was gay, reports NME.com.


The electronic music star was playing a show at the Boston Paradise Club Dec. 11 as part of his ongoing tour in support of his new album 18. Upon leaving the show, he was attacked by three men and beaten to the ground.

Now, Moby says he thinks his alleged assailants picked on him because they thought he was gay - even though he isn't.

"I'm kind of a simpleton, but could someone please explain homophobia to me?" he wrote on his Web site.
"Apparently when I was attacked in Boston it was a 'gay bashing' (which is kind of ironic seeing as I'm straight). What in the world do people find so offensive about homosexuality? What about homosexuality is so upsetting to so many people? Prejudicial hate and violence are always despicable and offensive - it's as simple as that."

Schoolboy pursues sex change

A BRISBANE boy is determined to become the first Australian school student to go through a sex change.

The Year 11 teenager has finally admitted to himself and his family that he wants to become a woman.

In what is believed to be an Australian first, the student last year began going to school partially dressed as a woman – wearing make-up and growing his hair long.

This year he is taking the transformation further – he has begun a course of hormones that will stop facial hair growth and eventually develop breasts. With the support of his parents, he has adopted a female Christian name and now leaves the house every morning looking like a woman.

In two to three years, provided he passes the required testing for mental or physical problems, he hopes to undergo surgery to make the transition complete – removing his male genitalia and replacing it with a female organ.

While his parents, extended family and friends are standing steadfastly behind him, many of his school peers have not accepted the decision. He has suffered months of verbal taunts, abuse and assault.

The campaign of vilification – condemned by the school's administration and some students – has made him leave the school.

He is now investigating other education options for this year – such as completing Year 12 via a TAFE course.

The 17-year-old, who does not want to be identified, said he was a victim of the widespread ignorance and fear.

Too many people saw it as a choice rather than understanding he had been born in the wrong body, he said.

A transgender is also frequently confused with a transvestite – who dresses as a woman for sexual gratification or emotional release.

"It's not like I have chosen this for myself, I have lived my whole life feeling that something is not right and all I want is to live a normal life," he said.

"The entire process has been painful and difficult . . . I wouldn't want to put anyone through what I'm going through.

"Life would be so much easier if I didn't have to do this."

Transgenders generally have to see psychiatrists for at least one year and they need to live as their new identity for two years before getting a sex change operation.

His mother, who has attended several of her son's medical appointments in a bid to understand more about the changes, said while it took a while to process her son's announcement she had always known there was something "different" about her only child.

"We love our child and we want to do what's right, we want her to have a happy life," she said.

"The suicide rate amongst transgenders is so high (43 per cent of transgenders in Australia have committed suicide or have made an attempt) and I don't want a dead child."

The family has found understanding and support from the group Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays.

Convener Shelley Argent said about one in 20,000 Australians had gender identity issues.

Mrs Argent said while the State Government's anti-discrimination legislation would make a huge difference for the transgender population, the process of sexual reassignment was a long, hard journey.

"Many in society believe that transgenders are either mentally ill, odd, a reflection of bad parenting or from dysfunctional families but really that isn't so," Mrs Argent said.

"We need to understand being a transgender, like homosexuality, is neither a choice nor a fad.

"Who would want to put themselves through a medical system that can become horrendous and not always sympathetic, live in a society that allows them few rights plus the pain of surgery required to make them complete?"

The support group is pushing for recurrent government funding of $10,000 a year.

Moscow - A homeless man invited by a Moscow resident to ring in Orthodox Christmas this week with a bottle of vodka chopped his host into tiny pieces and dumped the body parts in a trash bin, police said Thursday.

On Tuesday, police found a head, a severed ear and nose, a foot, and bits of leg and arm in a trash bin in southeastern Moscow and went to the victim's apartment after identifying the body, the RIA Novosti news agency said.

The maverick German professor who caused a storm with his public autopsy has revealed he wants to exhibit corpses having sex.

Gunther von Hagens said he is currently using his plastination technique to preserve and exhibit a dead camel and gorilla - and wants to do a giraffe and elephant next.


And the professor behind the controversial Body Worlds exhibition told Sky News Online he wanted to display two corpses having sex.

He said: "I am really thinking of it, but only if the body donors agreed during lifetime and if the final specimen is highly educational.

"Leonardo da Vinci painted a couple having sex.

He defied calls for his arrest when he carried out the first public autopsy in Britain for 170 years at his exhibition in Brick Lane, east London, in November.

The professor recently said he wanted to plastinate a reindeer.

Plastination involves replacing body fluids with a solid plastic which preserves body tissue and allows the corpse to become flexible but stay rigid after being put into a pose.

Penis explodes during sex

Doctors in Romania are treating a 28-year-old whose penis exploded while he was making love to his girlfriend.

Ilarie Coroiu was taken to hospital in the Transylvanian town of Cluj after his girlfriend, Magdalena, 18, "felt something strange" and noticed that the bed was covered in blood.

Dr Angela Domocos, head of the accident and emergency department at Cluj General Hospital, said: "It is very rare for this to happen. We call it an exploded penis because it happens when the blood cavities in the penis burst.

"I don't know what this couple were playing at, but there must have been tremendous pressure inside the penis to make this happen."

Mr Coroiu is now recovering after an operation to stop the bleeding.

Police: Father forced children, ages 4 and 7, to smoke marijuana

SARASOTA, Fla. - A man has been arrested on charges he forced his children, ages 4 and 7, to smoke marijuana and took them with him to sell drugs.

Alfred L. Sanders, 26, was charged this week with two counts of child abuse. The children's names were not released.

Police said the 7-year-old boy told his mother on Nov. 24 that his dad had made him and his 4-year-old sister smoke something that made his head feel funny and made him hungry. Investigators believe the abuse occurred the weekend of Aug. 2, when both children were in Sanders' care.

The boy told investigators he tried to stop his dad from letting his sister smoke something Sanders had taken out of a bag. He said his dad told him to shut up and made him smoke it, too, presenting him something shaped like a cigarette and instructing him to suck it like a straw.

The boy did not appear to know the names of the drugs, but said his dad keeps "green dust" in small plastic bags and that he often watched him sell it to people on a street corner.

The boy is in the custody of his mother in Palmetto. His sister is in state custody.

Sarasota police had arrested Sanders on drug charges in early August, police reports said. He was released from the Sarasota County jail on $1,120 bail Aug. 12 to await a trial Jan. 13 on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. Sanders, who was arrested on the abuse charges Wednesday, was being held Friday in the Sarasota County jail on $20,000 bond, jail officials said.

Sanders has been appointed a public defender, Matthew Gish, who did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment Friday

January 18, 2003 -- The bloody rap war involving hip-hop phenom 50 Cent escalated when his manager's Midtown office was ravaged in a hail of gunfire - an attack investigators say could be linked to one of the nation's largest rap record labels, police sources said.
A gunman brazenly rode the elevator up to the 11th floor office of Violator Management and Records at 36 W. 25th St. Thursday at 7 p.m., and held the doors open as he pumped at least six rounds into a glass wall and the front door, a police source said.

Cops are looking for links between the Violator shooting and guns they found when they pulled over a car carrying the rapper Fabolous.

Nobody was hurt in the shooting, which appears to be a "warning out of anger" toward 50 Cent - who made a lot of enemies when he dissed mega rap record label Murder Inc. and signed a deal with Eminem's Shady Records, sources said.

Sources close to Violator told investigators that Murder Inc. had badly wanted to sign 50 Cent.

Investigators say 50 Cent's deal with Shady Records also might have led to the October slaying of his protégé, Jam Master Jay, who industry insiders believe steered him away from Murder Inc. because of its alleged crime links. Irv Gotti, who heads Murder Inc., is a known associate of convicted cocaine kingpin Kenneth "Supreme" McGriff.

"A lot of people have a beef with 50 Cent," a prominent rap promoter said.

Sources said none of the artists represented by Violator - an impressive list that includes Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliot, Eve and Noreaga - were in the office at the time of the shooting.

The 11 employees there during the attack were in a back room and didn't see the shooter, sources said.

This wouldn't be the first attack on 50 Cent.

He was stabbed during a scuffle at a Manhattan recording studio in March 2000.

Two months later he was shot nine times in front of his grandmother's house in Queens.

Cops are checking whether one of the two guns confiscated from rapper Fabolous in Brooklyn around 10 p.m. Thursday matches the one used at Violator, sources said.

Fabolous, an Elektra rapper, was arrested for the second time in 24 hours after cops found two loaded guns in the Chevy Suburban in which he was riding.

The car, which belongs to his friend Reginald Rivers, 44, was pulled over for running a red light on Jefferson Avenue in Beford-Stuyvesant - where cops found a loaded 9mm semi-automatic as well as a .380-caliber gun.

The 25-year-old Fabolous, who was born John Jackson, had just gotten out of jail that morning, after spending a night in jail for driving with a suspended license.

But industry insiders were skeptical he would go after 50 Cent.

Nurse uses vibrator as baby pacifier




CHIBA -- Two nurses face charges after using a vibrator to calm down a crying baby, prompting him to turn over and sleep facedown, which led to his death, police sources said Saturday.

Investigators believe the Funabashi Medical Center nurses should have realized that the baby boy was in danger as he had been hospitalized with respiratory problems and his parents weren't there to look after him.

The 4-month-old boy stopped breathing after he fell asleep face down and later died because his brain had been deprived of oxygen.

Police are poised to send to prosecutors documents accusing the nurses of professional negligence resulting in death.

Police said that early on the morning of June 16 1999, one of the nurses left a vibrator with the child in the hope that its humming would prompt him to fall asleep. Almost an hour later, the nurses went to check up on the boy. He had rolled over onto his face, sleeping on top of an ice pack. He had stopped breathing. He suffered severe brain damage brought on through a lack of oxygen in the brain. The boy died in August the following year.

Police said the boy rolled over in his sleep because he was annoyed rather than lulled by the vibrator. (Mainichi Shimbun, Jan. 18, 2003)

WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- Two people suing a Domino's Pizza claim they found pubic hair on their pizza, and want DNA tested to prove it, a lawyer said.


Michael Widrick and Rhonda LaParr got small, wiry hairs stuck in their teeth as they bit into their order last November, according to attorney Eric T. Swartz. They froze the pizza as evidence, he said.

In a state Supreme Court lawsuit, the friends are suing Domino's and an employee for $150,000 in each of two causes of action: emotional harm, anxiety, psychological and mental distress; and negligence, Swartz said.

The two want DNA testing of the hair to see if it belongs to a store employee who had previous conflicts with Widrick, Swartz said.

The Domino's franchise, owned by D.P. Team Utica Inc., agreed to allow the test, Swartz said. He will seek a court order if the employee -- John Henderson -- does not provide a sample for testing, Swartz said.

"I've been making and selling pizzas for 18 years, and nothing like this has ever happened," said Richard Pierce, owner of the store. The legal system will vindicate his business, Pierce said. "This did not happen," he said.

State Supreme Court Judge Hugh A. Gilbert granted a default judgment against Henderson after the employee did not answer allegations. Henderson subsequently got an attorney and litigation will go forward, Swartz said Monday.

Jilted NY chef admitted sawing off wife's head



NEW YORK, April 13 (Reuters) - A New York chef was sentenced on Tuesday to 15 years to life in prison after strangling his wife, sawing off her head and stuffing her body in a suitcase for threatening to leave him.

Police say Oscar Pilamunga, 25, a chef at an Italian restaurant in Manhattan, became enraged in May 2003 when his wife, Beatrice Yually, 22, said she was leaving him for another man.





He choked her, cut off her head with a handsaw, put her body in a suitcase and dumped it on a street where it was discovered by startled residents, they said.

Pilamunga told police he tossed the head in a trash bin, but it has yet to be found.


"I killed my wife," Pilamunga told Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Carol Berkman during his plea hearing on Tuesday.


"How?" the judge asked.


"I tried to strangle her," he replied.


"You did strangle her," the judge corrected him.


The victim, the mother of their two children, sold ices on the street. The couple, who came from Ecuador, had married nine years earlier when she was 13, police said.


Police were led to Pilamunga by a number of clues inside the suitcase, including a telephone number found in the dead woman's pocket.

COLUMBIA, Missouri (AP) -- The national office of a sorority whose members were urged to lie about their health to boost turnout in a competitive campus blood drive apologized Tuesday.

In a statement from its national office in Colorado, Gamma Phi Beta said it "regrets the e-mail sent regarding mandatory participation in a campus-wide blood drive and apologizes to the community, the Red Cross and campus."

The American Red Cross tells those who are sick or have recently received tattoos or piercings not to donate blood, both to protect the health of donors and to lessen the risk of transmitting diseases to recipients.

But sorority members at the University of Missouri-Columbia -- a school that once set a world record for blood collection -- were urged by a fellow member to lie about their health.

In an e-mail sent last Tuesday to about 170 members of Gamma Phi Beta, sophomore Christie Key, the chapter's blood donation coordinator, wrote: "I dont (sic) care if you got a tattoo last week LIE. I dont (sic) care if you have a cold. Suck it up. We all do. LIE. Recent peircings (sic)? LIE."

She added: "Even if youre (sic) going to use the Do Not Use My Blood sticker, GIVE ANYWAY." Donors who have second thoughts at the donation site can discreetly attach a sticker to a health questionnaire indicating their blood shouldn't be used.

In her e-mail, Key wrote: "We're not messing around. Punishment for not giving blood is going to be quite severe."

Key declined to comment Monday and referred questions to Gamma Phi Beta's chapter president, who did not immediately return a call.

About 3,300 units of blood were collected at the Missouri event. The Red Cross reassured the public that its blood supplies are safe, saying all donations are routinely tested for safety.

Gamma Phi Beta's statement said the message was sent "without the consent or approval of any chapter officer."

Cathy Scroggs, a campus vice chancellor, said the university was investigating.

"I would characterize it at this time as one student that is overzealous," Scroggs said. "But we have heard that people have felt pressured to donate blood in the past, and this certainly has caused us to want to take a look at the whole process."

On a single day in 1999, the campus drive took in 3,156 units of blood -- enough to earn recognition from the Guinness Book of Records as the largest single-site, single-day blood collection.

If the University of British Columbia builds the 20-story residences, binoculars and Web cameras will soon be trained on Wreck Beach, ruining beachgoers' privacy, Wreck Beach Preservation Society protesters said.

"It's mean for the university to do," said Stephanie Gibson, 12, who has been raised in the buff on the beach. "I know they need more residences for the students, but they have to think of us."

University Vice President Dennis Pavlich said Monday that the university will keep the group's concerns in mind when designing the buildings.

"All that's been approved so far is the concept," he said. "We are going to run our own tests in June and they will influence design considerations."

Or maybe they just thought his music sucked..is that out of the question? Boston is a very gay friendly town. I regularly see gay men openly holding hands, and more than half of the men I work with are flaming.

Boston is the West Hollywood of the East Coast?
