Ok as most of you know by now I'm still pretty new at boxing. I feel I'm doing pretty well so far. One thing that has been bugging me is my shadow boxing. I feel like I'm going all out when I know its just to get me warmed up. Are there tips so I'm not going all out on this? I just feel goofy when I'm doing it.

Start off slow when your technique is not perfect, which it wont be if you are new. So do it real slow, kinda in slow motion so you are just getting the hang of throwing a jab for example, whilst remaining in stance, your other hand up, twisting your fist, stepping in and shifting the weight. Just a basic point.

Skipping will give you rhythm, which in turn helps your footwork. You will be putting your footwork together with your handwork so it doesnt look like you have 2 left feet... So do lots of skipping in addition to shadow boxing, so your hands are co-ordinated with your feet and everything flows.

When shadow boxing do as much defense as offense. So you might throw 3 shots, then you need to block some shots, because in sparring things barely ever go in one direction. So throw your 3 shots then block, roll, slip, counter. Mixing the defense with the offence is critical I think.

Yes it all takes time. The real learning is from the fighting and sparring. Let me tell you I have boxed under 2 years but I know that 90% of what I know is from trial and error in the ring against another person. Just a shame that the error has to be taking shots, in this wonderful sport we call boxing, eh?

Exige telling somebody how to shadow box, kinda like a crack head telling people how to stay off of drugs. Show him your video Exige. As much defense as offense? Jab jump back. Jab move forward. Jab move back. Jab move forward. LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

a good shadow boxer could imagine his oppenets fighting with him.

it like virtaul fighter imagine you have an imaginary friend you are fighting with like if the guy throws a jab what would you do and if he moves left or right.

but first tech is most important once that through you could use you imagination because that is the only way you could learn more
