View Full Version : mma ruined boxing.
Toney2 02-04-2007, 04:57 PM It is over for me.
mma raped my childhood.
I look at all the greats and legends and think how easy it would be for them to be instantly taken down.
It's not even funny.
Think about it for a minute.
In boxing , there's ALWAYS a moment when both fighters are in the clinch..
Then , the ref separates them.
You know what that means right?
Imagine Lennox or Tyson , or Vitali , Ruiz doing that ****?
Instant takedown in only 1 or 2 minutes in the first round , and game over.
Not even an opportunity for a "lucky shot".
I've been rewatching that guy , Mirko cro cop out of curiosity because He was fighting for the ufc.
Paid close attention to his losses and man..I've never seen that **** in my life.
In his fight vs Hoost in 99 the guy gets owned by a body punch.
He goes down in an instant.
So maybe you're asking yourself , "this guy sucks or what?".
Well let me tell you how shocked I was to discover the truth behind this one.
The guy had broken ribs.
Can you believe this?
BROKEN RIBS!
And STILL SHOWS UP for the fight!
I've never seen that **** in boxing. Never.
He had to fight 3 opponents on the SAME NIGHT! (Hoost being the last one).
No wonder he couldn't handle it anymore.
What a ****ing psycho!
He's got a glass chin though. Think Wladimir Klitschko.
Only instead of using his punches , He usually uses His kicks.
Think of Shaver's most powerful KO and you're still far from the massacre that this guy unleashes with a single impact of one of his highkicks.
If that guy hits the target with all his force , it's the end.
I used to think that this ****ing chubby russian , Fedor , was a joke compared to Ali , Holyfield , Bowe. Based on what I saw vs Fujita and Coleman. I thought to myself. "that guy would get ****ed by a top boxer".
But what's scary is that He actually always uses a different style.
If he's facing a striker. That cunt won't be taking any risks. He'll just go for the judo takedown and finish you there.
Vs wrestlers , He seems different. He tries to take advantage of the situation in a different way. Since His opponent is not as likely to ko His ass..He'll try to finish him on his feet.
I wish boxing had russians like Fedor and not guys like Valuev.
That **** is scary.

A fat unathletic looking cunt who moves like a cat!
Have you guys ever heard of Antonio Nogueira?
Hit by a truck when he was 10.
fell into a coma for several days.
You get the picture..
That brazilian **** is not your bjj guy.
That one's got a boxer's chin. Has a ****ing insane stamina.
sick hand grip strength.
There's no such thing in the ufc.
And I thought Penn was the reference in that area.
but there you got that guy who's willing to get his face smashed to a pulp , just to pull a crazy ass submission out of nowhere.
There's some sick ****s in this sport.
Atnan 02-04-2007, 05:09 PM thats why i love mma^^^ i loved the refernce of ernie shavers....cro-cop hits haarrdd! fedor is unbeatable!
outofit 02-04-2007, 05:34 PM like i've mentioned before it is precisely the strict rules of boxing that make it so difficult and in that regard it makes it better than mma. Nothing teaches discipline like boxing can. And no the same doesn't hold true for the other fighting disciples like wrestling because you don't get punched in the face while you are trying to work. (well maybe k1 which is just one step down from boxing as far as strict rules) Just because a mmaer could beat a boxer in a street fight doesn't mean crap to me because i've never taken that outdated approach to it, it's like something a child believes. I'm sure you can't compair the accomplishments of these men to the careers of guys like holyfield or james toney. The more strict the rules the more difficult it becomes and the more discipline and dedication it takes to be successfull.

I still prefer professional boxing. If you picture boxers being able to do moves legal in MMA, that's like watching a baseball game and imagining the second baseman being able to tackle the baserunner like a football player could, or like watching soccer and having it ruined by picturing field hockey players and wishing your footie star was carrying a stick. MMA didn't ruin boxing, your strange imagination did for you...
Jim_Davis 02-04-2007, 09:42 PM lol at some idiot making an alt to type that. I enjoyed watching UFC 67 but Boxing will always be the best fighting sport.
Atnan 02-05-2007, 12:54 AM that is pretty funni...i was accused of having an alt account ( which kind of makes me proud that people actually care about me)....
all hail the ruler of the mma forums!
flipside 02-05-2007, 11:18 PM boxing> mma anyday
Mistadobalina 02-08-2007, 04:33 PM nice, a whole new alias just for this sole purpose. i think it's hilarious how he claims to be a fan of boxing since his "childhood", yet in the end comes off as one of those new schoolers who only know name the big name boxers that are mentioned on the boards.
mma ruined boxing? please. more propaganda from internet fan boys who get a boner whenever they see a little article in the newspaper about mma, and can't wait to post it. the same insecure, desperate nerds who literally go on youtube, search for a great boxing KO video, find the ones that have more than several hundred thousand views, and post comment after comment of how much boxing sucks and how much mma rules. they swear that they are preaching some sort of gospel.
anyway, last time i checked even dana white admitted that their current success had a lot more to do with timing than their actual presentation. if white even attempted to make it big like that during the mid, or even late '90s they'd have gotten crushed... o wait a minute, they did. remember all the carmen electra commercials? what a flop that was. when time and money is actually spent on good promotion, boxing events are heavily viewed. just look at the recent flop of the latest "ultimate fighter" reality series, and compare it to the relative success of "the contender" 2nd season. boxing only has itself to blame for its recent decline in public interest. but it doesn't change the fact that as soon as the next big star comes back, the big promotions will be right back behind 'em. and mma has nothing on boxing when it comes to worldwide appeal and level of participation. i seriously doubt you'll ever see guys like liddell or couture on a postage stamp, like sugar ray. it is and always will be a sport for the poor and the working class, not a sport limited to upper middle class white boys who have the money to pay for the expensive training (in the U.S.).
Atnan 02-08-2007, 11:56 PM boxing isnt ruined.....bob arum and oscar need to stop fighting like grown women and work together! **** all the boxing promoters need to work together! boxing sucks now because none of the champs are fighting the top contenders! the heavy-weight division is an utter joke, no matter how u look at it...theirs ****ing champs getting knocked out by no ones! i think the flloyd/hoya fight shows that boxing isnt anywhere near to dying but if both hoya and flloyd retire ( which is a big chance of happening) boxing is dooomed!
the traveler 02-09-2007, 01:15 AM Another pathetic attempt by a MMA fan to downgrade boxing. I think what sets boxing apart, for me at least, is how hard it is. A group of scientist did a test for espn, ranking which sport they felt was the hardest. Boxing game out first, followed by hockey and football.
Martial arts was 6th.

martial arts isnt mixed martial arts you dumb ****! ive trained both and
i personally think mma is ways harder just because theirs numerous amount of things you could do to win! you could strike it out on the feet or on the ground....you could submit on the feet or on the ground....or you could grapple to a decision...also theirs actually clinch fighting unlike any sport)...or a mixture and combination of all!
in boxing, the only way to win is box! you cant even fight in the clinch! if you getting ur ass handed to you in the striking department, your ****ed and going to lose!
where as in mma, you try ur hardest to take it to the ground or keep it in the clinch!
its all a matter of opinion, but to set boxing apart just based on how hard it is, just cleary shows how ignorant and baised you are! please go back the the boxing forums!
p.s. also the fact that you think a bunch of scientist could measure something such as which is harder is a joke within itself! id rather ask the fighters/boxers who do both such as chris lytle!

Jim_Davis 02-09-2007, 01:25 PM Boxing ****ed itself up. End of.
the traveler 02-09-2007, 05:09 PM Wow, I'm a dumb**** because of that statement? You've really just summarized my intelligence by one statement. How smart.
If you noticed, nowhere did I say martial arts was mixed martial arts. However, with the tests the scientist did, they considered all martial arts, mixed them together, and came up with a rating on it. Is this a way of analyzing mixed martial arts?--which includes all the traditional martial arts elements(they excluded boxing and wrestling)-- I think it's an analytical approach--which is how they measured boxing.
Now, with MMA, there's boxing and wrestling included. With all the other things you can do in MMA, I think it's fair to say that two two fighting forms are a dillution of their individual sports (they're not done as often and as traditional as they are outside of MMA in MMA because of all the things you can do.) So, you'd have to say that the parts of the analysis of boxing and wrestling wouldn't be as high when mixed into MMA.
It's my personal choice if I like boxing because I feel that it's a very hard sport to do. How does this make me anymore biased than you liking MMA because of all the different things you can do in it? How does it make me ignorant? I never said MMA wasn't hard. Again, I just said that I liked boxing more because I feel that it's the harder sport to do.
I would hardly call the opinions of sports scientist and muscle experts to be a joke. Opinions from guys like Chris Lyte are cool, but I think those depend on what a person's strengths are. Those scientist do tests with general subjects..etc

Toney2--what the hell are you talking about??? did you read this **** before you posted it...it makes no sense..how could mma ruin boxing??? just reading what you wrote..it is so jumbled and poorly put together...mma is just becoming more and more popular and i think you pure boxing fans are having a hard time with it...ufc and pride are huge and have promoted much more than boxing....and just face it man...watching mma is much more exciting, u never know what will happen next...so much more can happen at any moment...oh yeah...go back to the boxing forum area and stay there.
Southpaw Stinger 02-09-2007, 07:19 PM Boxing > MMA
All of boxings problems are self made and have nothing to do with MMA.

i for one dont have a favorite between mma or boxing! i love both of them, and unlike almost no one here ive trained both ( still do)! you`ve probably never watched an mma event and like most boxing fans, your just scared of this new sport ( that might take over boxing) which will never happen! i wont even try to explain mma to someone who isnt going to listen no matter what! and sports scientist and muscle experts are a joke, for them to even try to measure something in that kinda of scale is just impossible and kinda of disrespectfull to the top altlets in a certain sports thats lets just say on the bottom of the list! i hate stubborb people! just do yourself a favor and get the **** outta the mma forums...catch me in the b.s.
