I'm new to MMA watching; didn't even catch the significance of Mirko's entrance theme...

Mirko entrance theme was the PRIDE theme song. PRIDE is the rival organization of UFC in terms of fighter talent worldwide. Lot of rumours of PRIDE being acquired by UFC and that will probably stir them up some more

I've been exposed to at least that much, but I didn't recognize the tune...

Don't you think more than one major organization with TV is good for the sport?

i do. and if UFC were to acquire PRIDE, i think they would run it as a seperate company. Plenty of money still to be made from that name as well .

What about EliteXC? They've already got a national TV deal...

How do UFC and Pride contracts work anyway? By the fight? Multiple fight deals?

Can someone still having to fulfill their contract take shows on another federation's shows? What about the guys who don't get TV time - can they still take indy shows?

It was pretty good.

It still feels like the twilight zone how Jackson and Mirko came to UFC. Hopefully White just sends contracts to everyone and gets Fedor, Barnett, Minutauro, Randleman, Hunt, Shogun, Wand, Gomi etc to fight here.

Pretty much tailor made run of the mill matches tonight. The only real bit of drama was watching Lutter take Silva down and the whole arm bar escape ordeal. Jackson wobbled Eastman a couple of times before catching him and stopping him, Mirko just hunted Sanchez down, Huerta rushing Halverton looked like the biggest fix of all time....I think Halverson just collapsed with fear when he put his hands over his head.

I want to see Chuck v.s. Rampage, Cotoure v.s. Silvia, GSP v.s. Nightmare etc.

UFC is starting to actually be pretty good.

If it keeps going at this pace, I really won't care for PRIDE anymore. All of my favorite fighters are coming to fight here in the states.

rampage striking didnt look to be as sharp as it used to ( i think it was due to the fact he was insanely nervous) and cro-cop would have made anyone look like they were tailor made for him tonight with the exception of fedor! who really cares about the huerta/halverton, both guys sucks and have no real chance of winning a belt!

if you blinked, you would have missed the terry martin/rivera fight, i dont even think the punch landed with that much power, it was a direct shot to the temple, but still.....rivera just broke apart!

the lutter/silva fight just proved my point even more when i say that silva is nothing more than a b+ ( sometimes an A-) class fighter...ive been saying it for a while now that a good wrestler who can keep his distance and trade, would beat silva to a decision.....filho, kang, and even misaki are good enuff to take silva imho-

i also had edgar losing aganist tyson griffin....i think that last round was bull****, he got hit in the balls, and ****ing the ref made them keep fighting and tyson pretty much got his ass kicked after that up untill tyson had that sick leg locked that could have paralleized griffins...i dont care much that tyson lost because edgar will not be able to fight in another 6-12 months, where as, tyson will be able to fight by next month!

You have to admit that Silva handled himself on the ground better than most thought. Lutter wasn't able to do anything on the ground and then got submitted. Silva was also able to escape a couple of times.

silva isnt called the syder because of his standing! i always knew he had a amazing ground game...he only loses when he doenst train or by better grapplers.....lutter is a ****ing c+ class fighter, i knew from the start he had no chance! **** him and his ground game....silva choked his ass out!

that edger vs. tyson griffin fight was such amateurish crap those guys sucked. I thought tyson would get the decision but I'm glad they gave it to the other douche bag that was slightly less horrible on the ground. I'm wondering what the story behind Terry martin calling out Swick is.

man, tyson griffen was lost on the ground. he didn't look like he belonged in the ufc. His legs where just hanging there, he wouldn't close them into closed guard or get them on the hips for butterfly guard. And that's just to begin with. woo wrestlers scary. Putting either of those guys in with sherk would be wreckless endangerment/murder. That whole fight card kinda' sucked. Everybody knew who was going to win the big 3 anyway. It was pretty funny how Cote' didn't go for "hands of stealing's" con game though. He's the same guy who Ko'd an oppenent after scrunching over from a body shot, and in another fight tapping out and then getting up and *****ing to the ref about the stoppage, that guy is a con man. He stumbled and Cote' just acted all surprised and stood there that was great.

Griffin/Edgar was the match of the night. wtf are you on? It's great to see two guys competing like that. I really thought the ref should have given griffin a break but anyways edgar looked like he dominated each round; at least he had the mental edge.

A. Silva will not last too long in the UFC. leben is a much shorter guy than he is and has a shorter reach. However, in the rematch Franklin will put him in his place. If not, I know Hughes will try. those chicken legs Silva has can be broken with one kick. When Lutter put him on his back he was lost for a while.

Liddell will beat Rampage.

Cro Cop will dominate heavyweight. His only competition will be Arlovski.

Randy will be sent back into retirement.

Sanchez will beat Koschek.

GSP will continue to hold his title unless he suffers more injuries.

The lightweight division will be exciting.

Anderson Silva had knee surgery on both knees just 11 weeks ago. That was why he was so easy to take down, and that was why he couldn't squeeze 100% when he had Lutter in the triangle. I ran into his manager after the show and he told me the whole deal. His knees were still very sore. Later that night I ran into Anderson in the hotel, and he was limping like he was just double knee barred.

Crazy ****. If Travis ever had a chance, last night was it. Great fight, either way.

i disagree with the edgar/tyson for fight of the night...it think it was bull**** what happened in the third, and edgar should have at least had a point taken off for holding the fence for dear life! they should have a rematch by next year ( thats how long it will take edgar to walk again)

why did u mention leben? who ****ing cares about that dude, he will never get a title shot! if franklin comes into the fight with the same game plan, hes going to get knocked out again! prides top 3 would not only beat a. silva, they would finish him!

andrei will not give cro-cop any serious trouble...he might land a kick or a punch...but he will get knocked out bad...he will try to strike with cro-cop which is gonna be real fun for cro-cop!

couture has a good chance i think :tapedshut

kos is gonna steam roll thru diego

if gsp fights bj again hes gonna lose for sure

and your 100% when saying the lightweight division will be exciting

Koschek has zero chance against Sanchez. He cannot handle the intensity that Sanchez brings. Snachez never quits. Koschek is tired by the second round. Kos will beat Sanchez in the same way that last dude did.
