Kobe Bryant 02-02-2007, 08:53 PM You can't go wrong with either of them. I like Big L more though. Big L was sick too bad he got killed. R.I.P because he passed during this month. Pun phenomenal flow considering his weight. He had great breath control. But this album is a ****in' classic and is my ****

I got styles you can't copy *****, it's the triple six
in the mix, straight from H-E-double-hockey sticks
Every Sunday, a nun lay from my gun spray
**** Carlito, we doin' **** the Devil Son's way
[B]Every minute, my style switches up, they said a real man
won't hit a girl well I ain't real cause I beat *****es up
I use words that's ill, L got nerves of steel
I'm cool, but every now and then I get a urge to kill
I'm takin lives for a great price, I'm the type
to snap in heaven with a Mac-11 and rape Christ
And I'm fast to put a cap in a *** chest
The Big L smash stress, cause hell is my address
I'm on some satanic ****, strictly, little kids
be wakin up cryin, yellin, "Mommy Big L is comin to get me!"

Ishak Pasha 02-02-2007, 09:08 PM they killed him because his brother owed a debt and he was locked up therefore he was inaccessible.
but as soon he got out of jail he was murdered in the same street big L was murder..
smh why the best rappers have to die.

yeah it was messed up he was coming from a party on his block I heard.
Bucktown Beast 02-02-2007, 10:13 PM yeah it was messed up he was coming from a party on his block I heard.
Yea theres two theories. That Big L was mistaken for his brother who was either in debt or beefing with someone and he was shot in a case of mistaken identity. Or that Big L was simply blasted to get back at his brother.
Ironically enough, Big L's brother was released about a year later and some time thereafter was killed on the same exact block as Big L.
Love Big L, but gotta go with Pun here.

Yeah that's the one I have always took as the reason.
Jim_Davis 02-03-2007, 12:40 AM Big L cos no Big Pun= No Fat Joe.
Bucktown Beast 02-03-2007, 01:23 AM Big L cos no Big Pun= No Fat Joe.
That makes alot of sense considering that Fat Joe is the one that put Big Pun on.
mic573 02-03-2007, 01:34 AM I'd take Big Pun over Big L.
Something about Big L and me never really clicked. I know he's got great lyrics but I couldn't get into his albums that much. Maybe it was the beats because his beats weren't the best around.
Kobe Bryant 02-03-2007, 02:09 AM I thought the producttion on his first album was great vintage eastcoast sound. And his second album was put together without him. But I still enjoyed his second album. There supposed to be another album coming out.
Sir_Jose 02-03-2007, 02:51 AM Pun. the guy was just an animal when he got on just straight atcking the mic. thats the way I feel about his style. I love that ****.
neils7147933 02-03-2007, 02:52 AM I'd take Big Pun over Big L.

Same here. Big L was a good lyricist but Pun had lyrics and a bigger presence on a record - more personality and more memorable singles...
pottle 02-03-2007, 12:18 PM both are sick its a hard one but i gotta go with big l his lyrics are crazy although pun has a sick flow l is a little better tough one tho
-Antonio- 02-03-2007, 12:53 PM Big Pun to me because he had it all. Its a shame that a lot of these great artists didnt get a chance to release more material. The case with both of these guys.
Ishak Pasha 02-03-2007, 01:19 PM is Big L Considered The Greatest Rappers Of All Times Next To Tupac And Biggie?
Kobe Bryant 02-03-2007, 01:25 PM is Big L Considered The Greatest Rappers Of All Times Next To Tupac And Biggie?
Not enough material but he was just as talented. Although Big only had two albums as well. But The Big Picture was a good release and I'm glad they released it.
pottle 02-03-2007, 02:09 PM is Big L Considered The Greatest Rappers Of All Times Next To Tupac And Biggie?
he definately would have been its sad we didnt get to hear enough of his **** to really say for sure same as pun
Ishak Pasha 02-03-2007, 09:10 PM yea. it's sad the greatest rappers always die in their primes.
Tha Greatest 02-03-2007, 09:47 PM is Big L Considered The Greatest Rappers Of All Times Next To Tupac And Biggie?
No, he is not.
I don't understand why someone has to die to become the greatest of all time. Big L was tight as ****, he was one of the greatest emcees.....
but people act like he was the greatest, I'm sure if he never died people wouldn't be calling him the G.O.A.T....
He was tight as **** though...
BTW who said pac and Big were the G.O.A.T?
BTW who said pac and Big were the G.O.A.T?
right. actually, i'm just plain sick of this greatest of all time bull**** period. there doesn't have to be a g.o.a.t. in anything. fact is, there is not and never was or will be. and that is a F A C T.
btw, i'll take big l over big pun without hesitation.
Kobe Bryant 02-03-2007, 10:10 PM I have no problem with anyone making a claim for someone as the greatest of all time. It's part if every sport, why not rap? I think 2pac is one of the greatest is there anything wrong with me saying so?
pottle 02-04-2007, 09:37 AM you can have a greatest in everything so why not hiphop?
btw biggie is the G O A T pac imo was a little overated top ten tho
Young Legend 02-04-2007, 11:07 PM Big L by far.
Top 5 MC Dead or Alive
i will specify.
there is no such thing as the greatest. that applies to anything and everything.
however,
if somebody is your favorite painter, for example, you may say that they are the greatest of all time. no prob. it's your perception of what a skillfull painter is.
but proclaiming otherwise indicates a boxed perception. saying a particular painter, in this example, is a/the greatest and better than any other painter for example, will lead to many people becoming too involved in something which is petty. ex: i read here that somebody was somewhat angered that there was even a thread about 2pac being overrated. that = my point.
i'm justed stating this so we know where we are.
for me, i agree 2pac had a gigantic influence on rap. but to me, as a rapper, he doesn't hold a flickering candle to the skills of someone like krs one for example.
Young Legend 02-05-2007, 11:39 AM Pac is overrated.
He just came around at the right time. He's still top 5 for me, on his influence to hip-hop alone.

Is Jordan the greatest? maybe he's the only one.
the traveler 02-05-2007, 07:36 PM I think Big L is the better lyricist than Big Pun and has the better flow than Big Pun.
David06 02-05-2007, 08:08 PM Big L. Pun just never did it for me.
Bucktown Beast 02-05-2007, 11:08 PM Big L by far.
Top 5 MC Dead or Alive
I kinda bug with these "by far" comments. Anyone who has really listened to Pun's material would know that there is no MC who has anything by far on him.

Maybe by far is stretching it, but Big L was the truth. Too bad he was cut short of what could've been something real special.
But my Top 5 DoA
1. Nas
2. Pac
3. Big L
4. Biggie
5. Jay-Z
Mistadobalina 02-06-2007, 04:54 AM it's gotta be big L.
fasman 02-06-2007, 12:19 PM BIG L................ died prematurely but would hav been huge!!!

Atnan 02-11-2007, 03:22 AM wow...thats a tuff one....i honesly felt big L was a beast when he was on point...pun made my mind boggle with his lyrics and flow.....both held it down huge and i mean, i would give the edge to big L based on hsi freestyles beeing better (how he clowned jay-z,:rofl:) something no one probably ever heard of!:rofl:

Trust people have heard it. It's like a seven minute freestyle. I thought L's verses were dope. And Jay's verses were nice as well.

Thing I like about L is that when he speeds up you can still here him clearly(as compared to Pun)
Here is the Jay/Big L collab
I like the G Rap flow on their second verses. L killed jay ofcourse
the traveler 02-13-2007, 03:52 AM You guys may think this is soft, but everytime I listen to Big L now, I get misty eyed because of just how dope he was and how it was all taken from him. I think Tupac is one of the nicest, but even he doesn't make me feel sad like I do when I listen to Big L. L was the rarest talent in anything that I've ever seen. He's right up there with people like Stephen King, Einstein.. as far as genius in their craft, as far as I'm concerned.
I think one of his best songs is this track called- "Alone (remix)" It's one of his most different songs. If anyone peeps that song, upload it on here.

that's true. but tupac mostly rapd about his life and **** like that, it didn't impressed me alot but i still consider him a good rapper but big l was different man, spoke the truth in all his songs.
na pun was a beast i got mad respect for big l he did he thing but pun had it all and his freestyles ufff great memories.
