when the americans came in the phil. the stance of most boxers then was something like both hands are ranging from the chest downwards to literally on top of the lap.palms are facing downward.

they observe that early pinoys when going on a fist fight.does a stance that the hands are facing each other meaning hammer fist.from the upper abdomen region to jaw area.

mainly derive on how pinoys fight with arnis(now known as the softer ver. of stick fighting) before the arnis are practice with forms of espada y daga(sword and dagger) or both with taga( jungle bolo)

there are some of them who even used a stance similar to flicker style i.e. for the fighter to enable to flick out their weapon after slashing they let the blood drip meaning one of the blade (mainly the lead arm down) also for resting and deceiving their opp.

when some early pinoys had fought the early boxers that lets down their arm in front pinoys just slap it(immitating a slashing movement)their wrist as one of the movements basicaly thought on the weapon art.


early arnis practitioners dont let down their guard as that would mean death.
and it is possible to flick the weapons used on arnis compared to the samurais katana as it is relatively light.
