With the February pay per view show being the next KOTC, word on the March non-pay per view show isn’t expected to formalized until early in March, but with a total of twenty three shows between KOTC and Gladiator Challenge this year, word is already leaking out. The show is March 22nd at Soboba Casino in San Jacinto, CA and so far seems to include:
- Erin Toughill vs. Nicole Albrecht
- Fernando Vasconcelos vs. Karo Parisian
- Eric Pele vs. Remco Pardoel
The main one to watch so far from a belt point of view would be Pele/Pardoel since the winner sets up the next Unlimited belt bout, probably on May’s PPV card which is rumored to be in Las Vegas. Assuming no-one gets injured it looks like the winner of Ambriz/Ivey in February and Pele/Pardoel on this show will get the shot with Daniel Bobish probably being on the sidelines until the summer.
RAW team member Vasconcelos made his MMA debut in KOTC 12 but has a long history including being a state level wrestler, winning the Mundials a couple years ago, and training at Baja Gracie where the Machados used to teach before climbing in the cage. Vasconcelos showed great ground control in his debut as he came out fast for the immediate takedown and dominated until getting the TKO in the 1st round. For his second MMA fight in KOTC last October in KOTC 17 a last minute replacement Marcos Santos gave Vasconcelos a run for his money as the fight went back and forth until Vasconcelos dropped Santos with a left and follwed it up with a pouncing ground attack ending in a rear naked choke for the win. Karo may be even a tougher opponent with a reported 14-2 with his only two losses to Sean Sherk, both in Reality Submission Fighting, although the 14 wins are hard to verify or analyze at this point. Karo’s first fight with Sherk ended with a decision after an eighteen minute round and the second ended by TKO after over sixteen minutes.
