What are some of your best escapes from a side mount? Especially if you are a heavyweight.

I like to make sure my arms are under his whenever possible, if I can get them close together, around shoulder width, then I can usually bump opponents off of my chest long enough to bring my guard into play or come to my knees.

Another option is to reach over with the far arm and grab his belt/pants. then get my other arm in a good spot to push up from. Once in place, basically roll, pushing with bottom arm, pulling with top arm, he ends up on his back and I am in side control.

Mr funk respect Parazit! Also respect that this is NOT off topic or the cage this is for talking about your submission work, so please respect that.

If your wearing a GI grab your opponents wristst of the GI and hold them tight then block his legand roll him. i got rolled easily by a littler guy who was doing this to me.

i am horrible at escape from sidemount so i'm always sure to start escaping before the guy gets it..if he's in my guard and i see i'm on the losing end of him trying to pass my guard i start getting to my side then and it makes things a lot easier. i used to start escaping after he already had the position and i wondered why i sucked so bad.
