IMO from what i've seen through the many fights i've seen, I think ADRENALINE or some other chemical may play a big part in the prevention or quick recovery of a knockout..
Maybe you have noticed too, but it seems that the quicker/sooner a fight ends by KO the fighter is quicker to recover after the KO rather than if it occurred late in the rounds..
I cannot think of a guy that got KO'd in the first round and stayed down for a long period of time.. but here's a listt of what coincides to what i'm saying.
less than 2rnds for KO
1.hendo vs chonan - was a quick flash ko, chonan was out but quickly recovered and wanted to continue..
2.shogun/overeem - again overreeem was KO'd but wasn't out long,
3.baroni/chonan - chonan again was ko'd in 30secs but complaind about early stoppage. he recovered quickly.
4.ninja/kang - quick ko ninja recovered.
2nds or more
baroni/minowa - minowa was out for like 10mins..
azaredo/gomi - azeredo was out for 10mins..
thompson vs fujita - thompson was runnin on empty and hit on the button and went down like bricks, exaustion/lack of adrenaline led to this beautiful KO.
thers many others, maybe you can add some, but do you agree exhaustion makes it easier to be knocked out and adrenaline combats the effects...
Myself i've been hit hard, so hard that i saw flashes of black everytime i was hit,tha bastard had my back and was ppoundin on the back of my head. but i kept goin out of sheer anger knowing that when i hit him he's fuked..
I think if i was feeling fear or maybe even exhausted or tired, maybe i would have been ko'd.. Maybe i dunno.. but i know anger and desire is what got me to my feet.
