Put on more muscle and end up being stronger then them.

Its not liek tall defaults out to be "lanky"

Unless you want to fight at lower weights.

Otherwise your reach is your weapon and reach=jab.

Heh heh. You can't. :boxing:

Don't let us short guys get you in a corner or against the ropes.

it's both, tall wiry guys like tommy hearns and allen green have alot of leverage on their punches = KO power.

however, it's always a disadvantage on the inside because short arms get their quicker and u can smother your own power if too close

Being taller is an advantage imo. You dont have to work as hard. Having to bend your knees and slip punches takes up a lot more energy. Id rather be tall and lanky than short and stocky like I am now.

I think of guys like Allexis Arguello and Tommy Hearns, who were freaks of nature.

Being tall is a defnite advantage IF....you know how to use your height and reach to your advantage.

This is something I'm learning more every day, I love to get inside and work as well but man, it's a thing of beauty when I have my jab and hook going to where the other guys aren't even getting close to hitting me.

Boxing is a hit and not get hit sport. Being tall only helps....you just have to use it right.

For example see: Jhonny Gonzalez vs Israel Vasques ROUNDS 1-5!! I love that fight.

being tall (with a good reach)allows you to:
keep your opponent at range
outjab him
keep him out of HIS range

however it also means:
your chin and body are more open
you ave to punch downwards (takes away some power)
you will probably be weaker than a shorter opponent that is equal in weight
you will have a hard time mixing it up on the inside

I am 6'5 but i've spent loads of time on my hooks so i am cormfortable at all ranges. i'm also 230lbs!

ideally i would like to be about 6' with a 90" reach!!
