Is it at heavyweight or every weight class? Douglas-Tyson is the biggest upset in boxing history, Braddock-Baer and Clay-Liston ranks second and third.

I actually had Tyson douglass third, and I think that's a fair assassment. I only have liston-clay and louis-schmeling above it. Liston had the mob background and was seen as probably the scariest fighter in history. Tyson was not as intimidation as Liston was in his day. Liston also completely cleaned out the division and knocked out the second best fighter twice in one round each, while Tyson decisioned the second best fighter at the time (Tucker). And Louis was also seen as 10 times better than all the fighters of his day and couldn't seem to be stopped until Schmeling fought him. Also Louis destroyed fighters that Schmeling got destroyed by.

what does intimidation have to do with that. tyson was unstoppable a fast force with a quick start.tyson cleaned out his division also and he heardly got hit.and douglas wasnt seen as even a real good fighter,he was just an fighter. i heardly and i mean heardly see ppl rate that that low. but its your opinion so i really cant argue.

Intimidation has a lot to do with it, because that's why it was such an upset, because the public thought that he was so invincible because of his image that he couldn't be beat.

True Tyson was closer to his prime than Liston, but there's still that image. The perception of the public at that time, not now. If you go on that, you'll find that it could go either way. I'll favor Liston-Clay.

it's every weight class, but in my book, the top 5 upsets of all time are at heavyweight.

Jones-Tarver 2

I wouldn't call that a great upset, because Tarver gave him a good fight the first time, so some people thought he would win.

Well, the sudden ktfo factor gave the great upset feeling.

I suppose that it was one of the most shocking fights in boxing history, because he was ko'd, but not necessarily a great upset. Foreman-Frazier was shocking, not because Foreman beat him, but because of the way he beat him. Dempsey Willard was shocking not because Dempsey beat him, but beacuse of the way he beat him. Same thing for Tarver. Because of the way he beat him, not necessarily because he beat him.

Another big time upset was Lloyd Honeyghan busting up Donald Curry. Curry had the invincible aura at the time and he got slapped.
