which should i do.cause in novice if i win,i only win the regional part.if im open class and succeed I can go all the way up to national and more recognition and a chance for the olympics.

and remember guys i have new shoes(able to sit on my punches and do my defense correctly) so make the votes count.ahaha:rofl:

Time is on your side, go with novice and build up. Dont jump the gun and lose out ultiamtely. If you are champ of the regionals then you know that you can always achieve more later on. Next year in fact. I vote Novices.

depends on ur confidence man, if you really wanna take urself far then you have to think that in the future I KNOW im going to be a good pro fighter, and ur just back to being 22 dealing with weaker competetion on your way to getting recognition. You have to really want it though and believe in yourself.

I'm about 98% sure that you need to have atleast 5 fights on your passbook

And wasn't that last fight you had your first one?

I think you have to go novice for now until you reach 5

Depends man, have you done golden gloves at all yet? Also, as far as a shot at the Olympics, while I don't really know how it all goes, as far as the 2008 Olympics go, it may be a little too late. But being canadian, I don't really know how it's done with you guys, I just know that up here, it takes a little more time. 22 isn't that old man, and from what I understand, you're quite good. I'm 19 (20 in august), and if I can be "quite good" by 22, I'll be satisfied. So honestly, if it were me, I'd hone my skills in the novice competition first, than do open next year. But, like with everything else in this sport, go with your instincts man.

Good Luck with it either way,

Versatile, I can see from your clips that your strong and I know that you train hard and give what you have but just understand before doing this, that going from novice to open with only a bout or two under your belt could be dangerous. In the open class you will mostly run into straight out dogs that have been fighting for years already. And when you do lock up with these cats you might find that your natural strength is being nullified by their abundance of skill and time spent. Its your choice, but I would recommend rolling with the novices until you get a little more under your belt. I know that either way you'll give 'em nothing but hell but still, make the choice wisely................Rockin':boxing:

another reason im thinking of doing it is because i was thinking(since i really dont fight fully amateur like)fighting similar to frazier with **** load of bobbing and weaving to fend off all those wild punches amateurs throw.and when im close enough let loose with counters and close compact punches. if i do that long enough they will just start throwing just to land something on me and then i can turn to countering and just counter what they throw and corner them all the time.to me i have a pretty fast bob and weave at 175. and im in going to fight at 152 which will make me alot quicker.

but im still thinking about it. i wanna make some sort of name for myself and its getting late in age(for me it seems like it) ive been boxing and sparring for 3 years now, so its just a thought ya know

LOL! That ain't no damn downfall man. Give me 22 back and i would not have quit. Stick with boxing for a full year, and i mean do the tough training nessacary to compete at a high level and see where you are at by the end of the year. But no bull****, and run one time, train 50 percent, sparr 50 percent. **** no, hit the better gyms with your coach and get that tough sparring, makes you a better fighter, but you have to do the training and running. Good luck with what ever you decide.

In my city they had the competition to be in the Olympic trials I think it was. I didn't get a chance to go but all the top fighters were supposedly going to fight at this event for not just California but other states.

No that tourn if you are talking about the one in Oxnard, was a western reg, You had to win that then step up to a semi final tourn to even be considered. If you have a regional under your belt you can still get on the team.

Where the hell is Punch Drunk when you need em? I think and I am not 100% sure, but I think you need 5 fights before you can move up. And the next division isn't much more than a lot of the same ****. Brawlers like yourself have a hard time. Amateur rules arn't set up for a puncher. They are set up for skilled boxers to suceed. And thats regardless of the class. Open class has more national attention, Of course. and If you are trying to make a name for yourself, winning those tournements are helpfull. Not just competing, but winning them. Otherwise Its not any better than fighting any other class.
So if you think you can beat the best of open class at your weight, I mean know you can. Then you could make that move, but I still think you need 5 fights to move up. I need that rule to be cleared up for me.
