View Full Version : I am worried.
Ash-Mckean 01-10-2007, 11:25 AM Ok so i had my first training last week and i was doing fine but toward the end my right eye ****ed up and went strobe/blurry, It has done it a few times before, I was gutted and sat out, The trainer told me "****ed up eye no boxing" but he wants me to come again on sunday and i am worrying if it will happen again, I have been getting fit though this week with runs etc etc.
I hope it goes well but i am ****ting myself for it.
The Raging Bull 01-10-2007, 11:42 AM Just go on sunday and do your best and if it happens I advise you to go see an optician.
Ash-Mckean 01-10-2007, 11:53 AM I have seen the optician, Hell even a doctor it happened so many times and they said it's nothing to worry about but now im getting pissed off lol.

Oh ok. If professionals say don't worry about it, then don't. Just concentrate on your boxing, not your eye :D
It might be a nervous twitch or something. Hopefully it will go soon :fing02:
platinummatt! 01-10-2007, 12:11 PM /\ you wish. Doctors and opticians can **** up you know man. Amount of stories I heard bout the optician by us.
Just keep an eye on it ( no pun intended ) maybe do some research on the net... and if it keeps happening go back to the doctor and be more insistant.
fraidycat 01-10-2007, 12:49 PM I often get sparks and floaters after a heavy hook to the head. I've spoken to my doctor about it, and I also mentioned it to my optometrist when I went to get my glasses renewed. They both tell me it's normal. As I understand it, nerves and blood vessels run differently for everyone, and for me, my doctors theorize, a hook to the head may ring the optic nerve like hitting your "funny bone" does to your arm.
Get checked out anyway. Just because my doctors think a similar symptom isn't dangerous to me, doesn't mean your problem isn't dangerous for you.
eazy_mas 01-10-2007, 12:53 PM try working on defense and preforming the art of boxing that is my advice

Never heard of a second opinion and how many people suffered greatly becuase they didn't get one?
Guys, always get at least 2 or even more opinions before settling down with one doctors sayings; especially when training and competing in a sport such as boxing.
Trick 01-10-2007, 03:54 PM agreed, a 2nd opinion is key in a sport like boxing.
That being said, I wouldn't stress about it too much man, I think everyone here's had some fuzzy eyes every now and then. Just comes with the sport. There are few sports where you work so hard, and take such punishment. Getting blurry is pretty normal in my opinion.

Thinking about it now, I agree to get a second opinion :pat:

Aye except when it happens it almost feels like your almost passing out if i many say so i couldnt find the strength to continue, I was really gutted when it happened and when i got home i ran the bath after after a while it went.
cyberthugpatrol 01-10-2007, 04:43 PM did you get hit on the head or eye area recently ?
blurry eye, short term blindess, that is no joke. like someone said optician(sp) they can **** up too.
I would have it looked at thoroughly. by some other doc, a third and fourth opinion will not hurt.
Ash-Mckean 01-10-2007, 05:07 PM I wasnt fighting or sparring it was just normal training shadow boxing running around and stuff like that, Thats why i was pissed cause it came up for no reason, All thought i was tired.
