View Full Version : How many miles should you be running everyday? FIGHTING_FLIP 01-03-2007, 10:16 PM how much miles should you run everyday?? Rampage* 01-03-2007, 10:19 PM I am by no means an expert but I say you should run about 1-2.. shellroc513 01-03-2007, 11:30 PM It depends how many round u are going to be fighting and also it depend on ur relaxiation in the ring and fighting style. More aggresive style the more u need to run...Relaxed like Toney, it still varies. I say between 5 and 6mi 3or 4 times a week. 1_Punch_KO 01-03-2007, 11:48 PM since long distance running isnt that important compared to doing intervals, i run only 1-3 miles a day. if my routine was intense i do only 1, average i do 2 miles, and i do 3 if i have lots of energy. and i do my long distance runs after normal workouts VERSATILE2K12 01-03-2007, 11:49 PM im workin strictly on diet now,but i ran like 3 miles Chipper 01-04-2007, 12:41 AM If your going to box 4 rounds do 5 intervels of 600m sprints. So basiclly take how many rounds you will box and add one. FIGHTING_FLIP 01-04-2007, 12:50 AM soo would 2 miles everyday be enough? Hitman18 01-04-2007, 01:46 AM 2 miles everday is fine. I run 2 miles every other day and im in great shape. I can go about six rounds before i feel too tired. I've been running about five weeks now just every other day and before I could only go like two rounds and i was already tired as hell. But now, five weeks later running 2 miles every other day, i can go six good rounds and maybe eight in total. So yes 2 miles everday is great. As long as you dont stop. Southpaw Stinger 01-04-2007, 02:34 AM usually run about 3 miles everyday except sunday which is when I sleep! TomRiddle 01-04-2007, 02:37 AM 5 miles with occasional sprints. RockyMarcianofan00 01-04-2007, 03:29 AM You can't say for certain how much you should run because every person's different... I usually run (when I start training again anyhow) about 1-2 miles On the other hand I know people that would run up to 7 miles.... The biggest variant is that if your running on the street and not a foam track you can hurt your knee's...This is bad if your mixing Running with Training in the gym...You can't spar with soreness of the legs.... fraidycat 01-04-2007, 11:32 AM Every morning, I either cover 2-3 miles at an easy pace around my hill --switching uphill and downhill every few blocks -- or I run a few blocks to a set of stairs -- 237 stairs over 4 blocks, to be precise -- that lead most of the way up my hill, and then walk up and down those for about 45 minutes to an hour. Depends on how severely I've worked my legs the day before. 1_Punch_KO 01-04-2007, 04:26 PM i think 3 miles is more than enough. this is how i think of it.. an amateur boxing match is 8 minutes of work and 11 minutes total including rests if you run 3 miles at 6 minutes a mile (which is incredibly fast, but ill use it for my example) thats 18 minutes of running. see what i mean? my logic might be wrong but thats how i see it fraidycat 01-04-2007, 04:28 PM I don't really run for conditioning; it's mostly for weight control and it makes the rest of the day easier. If I don't run the morning after boxing, I'm stiff and sore all day. 1_Punch_KO 01-04-2007, 04:29 PM cool. i do that too but i swim and only in summers. :) hotbox2316 01-04-2007, 05:14 PM i run a mile warm up,walk for a couple minutes then i do what i call round running,i almost sprint 3/4 of my full speed anyway(estimated) for three minutes then walk for a minute, this gets your body to imitate what you would do in the ring intensity wise anyway...oh an i do the about five rounds yrrej 01-07-2007, 01:45 AM Some guys don't run at all. Others run 10 miles a day...... Gemini531 01-11-2007, 01:45 PM I feel for an amatuer fight which is 8 minutes you should run 4 times that much each week to stay inreasonable shape which is 32 minutes a week. But thats including other boxing activities such as calisthenics. |
