Inoki Bom-Ba-Ye gets Monster Ratings!

'INOKI BOM-BA-YE 2002'

Inoki Bom-Ba-Ye ratings are in and it's a big success again this year. Many critics were expecting more worked/fixed fights, but the show consisted mainly of legitimate MMA matches, something different for Inoki.

The ratings peeked at a whopping 47.3 during the second half of the show while the first half scored a solid 37.1. Inoki had been quoted in the press as expecting to hit a 50.0 but can't be upset about the turnout.


Fallout from the show include:

Bob SappGary Goodridge at the WRESTLE-1 show at the Tokyo Dome in two weeks.

Inoki was preparing Takayama for a HUGE pro wrestling push. But, as predicted, it appears that Takayama's eye socket may have been re-injured during the Sapp fight, which may put him out of the game for a couple of months. There was a rumor that Takayama's eye socket was rebroken (for the THIRD time) but those are not confirmed, but more recovery is apparently needed.

I expected there to be crazy ratings for this show..

I don't like the way Inoki runs his shows. It seems like there's all kinds of **** going on: pro wrestling, mma, kickboxing. But I guess the Japanese audience loves this ****.

Like him or not Inkoi is a legend in Japan and helps get MMA more popular and keep it in the spotlight. 02 Bom Be Ye had all the makings for a hit with the rematches and Yoshida on the card.

Bob Sapp had a lot to do with that big draw. Here in Japan people who don't know the difference between K-1 and Pride still know who Bob Sapp is. He is attracting a lot of new fans to MMA. . . . . go Bob!

They worship Bob Sapp in japan......

Sapp + Takayama = both HUGE draws in Japan.

What are the rating measured in? Those numbers didn't mean anything to me.
