View Full Version : Rampage and Cro Cop
robot_monkey 01-02-2007, 09:44 PM Bringing these two guys to the UFC was a great decision. I think they were overused in Pride, anyways. Although I enjoy Pride's technical fights, the UFC is more sensationalized. If they implement a yellow card system things would be better. I think a fighter will fight, otherwise he would risk injury and probably lose his fans and his job. Also, now that the UFC is being broadcasted in HD, I am anticipating a great 2007. The UFC should also have tournaments once each year. That would be great.
I think that Pride needs to connect with the American public. They need to get better anouncers, create drama, and make their shows live. These are the things that get people hooked. But I don't think Pride should be in America. After the UFC built the foundations they want to capitalize, me thinks, not. I support Dana White as long as he remains true the sport, respectful to the fans, and considerate to the fighters.
P.S. They should also stop saying that they are the best organization in the world. They do have many great fighters, but let the audience make that decision.

It was my understanding that PRIDE was focused on live events. They bring in between 30 and 50 thousand paying patrons to live events but they don't have the International television distribution that Dana White has secured for UFC.
There's more money in providing pay-per-view on a national and if possible international stage than having humongous live gates.
I do like PRIDE's open weight grand prix, though. If the UFC could structure something in which a fighter could do what Cro Cop did and take out two guys in a night, that would be badass.
Ukr_Alex 01-03-2007, 02:30 AM International television distribution that Dana White has secured for UFC.
I dunno man. My friends in Europe dunno nothing or very little of UFC. AFAIK its a very North American thing.
Guys overseas know as much about UFC as Americans and Canadians do about Pride. I might be wrong though.
As for Cro Cop in UFC I dunno. I believe he is a couple of leagues above what UFC has to offer. But I highly doubt they will let him sweep the floor with the UFC bums. It will look bad for UFC. THey will do all they can to make the fights with Mirko somewhat competative.
Besides arent the rules quite a bit different?
I just dont think they will let Mirko do his thing, cause if he did, I dont see ANYONE in all of UFC doing **** all to Cro Cop, especialy the major bums in the heavy devision.

now thats what up
ufc
and boxing should do that once a yr
Diablo 01-03-2007, 06:09 AM I think Pride has better fighters and more competitive fights but Dana White has done an outstanding job of advertising UFC and making it appealing in the US.
brownpimp88 01-03-2007, 11:48 AM Can someone tell me what ufc being on HD means, is it hbo?
robot_monkey 01-03-2007, 01:17 PM No, that means that it is broadcasted in higher definition television; HD delivers a lifelike picture quality which would make for more attractive viewing. If you don't know what it is, then it doesn't matter. But it is a great step forward. I was introduced to the UFC via INHD. It was a great experience, and I am anticipating the same.
