I live way out in the country where there's no boxing gyms or trainers for about 100 miles. Any suggestions on how to train?

And if you do turn your garage into a gym, Try and get some tutorials so you know how to punch.

I wish the best of luck mate.

Well I'm working on a similar project for my house next year, I'll let you know how that goes. As far as instruction, that's crappy. I mean, there are good sites and all, but really, unless you wanna develop bad habits you will need someone to show you what to do sometimes at least. Luckily, I know enough to manage, but since I train mostly on my own, I also develop some bad habits along the way. But ya, I'm looking into setting up a gym in my house too, so I'll let you know how that goes if you want.

its almost impossible to learn without sparring. I learned that the hard way tonight(first night sparring).

Thanks for all the advice. I'm sure I already have a lot of bad habits and training alone won't help them.

I would like to see your home gym when your finished, Trick.

All you need is a mirror for shadow boxing some running shoes a speed rope and a radio.

Remember to practice fundys and defense first. That should get you prepared to get into the gym but you'll be shape and able to compete adequately.

I live in the country too... sometimes you just gotta travel, shows how determined you are.... takes me a hr to get to the gym, and a hr to get back home (and thats going about 20 over the speed limit).... It's worth the drive
