i just figured since i dont have a slip bag, that i should just buy all the **** at walmart to make my own slip bag sorta.next i wanna make something that i can hit when i slip punches, kinda like the cus number system but my own. critics r welcome and ideas also. thanx:wave: oh yeah i made the ball and string alittle to low,i wanted it low so i can use more of my legs when coming up but thats to low.

it helps if you have a big mirror to see the ball when its behind you, I tried setting this up once. I put a five pound dumbell in a cobra bag bag and tied it to a tree branch. It didnt really work out and it kept nailing me in the back of the head.

naw if i got a mirror thats sorta cheating.cause i know where the ball is.now if i just naturally continue to bob my head back, the ball wont hit me as it didnt in most of the video

Aw-w, that tennis ball is ***** bull****. Real men use a sock full of wood screws. :blackeye:

Seriously, though. Damn, you can move. I think it's very cool to try to get the rhythm of the ball coming at you from behind -- very Jedi-Knight-Training. I may have to set something like this up when I build my home gym. Cool stuff.

When are you fighting again?

Lol
i love how the ball nails ya with a one-two at the begining
good idea
but i dont see how itll help ya
cuz it swings way to slow
like someone said maybe somethin a lil heavier
but then again the back swing might hurt ya too

yeah im going to raise it up.i cant but ne thing real heavy on there cause theres a room right above.i want it alittle higher so i can bend my legs alot to avoid it as in a match u gotta bend your legs for leverage.

I feel like the balls is on too long of a rope, it has such a long wide swing to it that you see it coming from a mile away. Didn't Tyson use a much smaller string that was not tied from so far up? I think you'd have it coming at you quicker and more frequently. I could be wrong, but i just remember Tyson's slip ball setup looking different.

Also work on your lower back and upper torso flexibility. Loosen up those muscles, and your slips will have more fluidity and natural quickness to them I think.

impressive bobbing skills, thats good natural defense right there. I can't really give you any advice as you know more about that style of fighting than anyone! just keep doing what your doing and make sure you've always got a good set of shoes at hand.

go to that site...near the bottom, theres a video called Interview and next to it it says, Fenech, Patti & Tyson

I'm 95% sure it was that video he was using that slip bag. you can judge it yourself on the speed, i havent watched it in a while. and that site, download speeds are slow :(

Shame on you. Your got the mind set. But you are just starting to run? Come on man. Start running religiously and you'll see how fast and better you'll be. And how easier it is to pick up on stuff because you are in better condition. Jumping rope is really good too. Learn to jump rope really fast for 30 seconds then normal then 30 seconds and repeat, this will help you in sparring by getting better conditioned.

I made one of these last year, also using a tennis ball. I then just attached a sparring glove to the ball to make it more challenging. Made it faster, too.

Another idea is something called the string of pearls. Basically a rope secured to the ceiling, run through the centers of 3 tennis balls(one around your chin height, one at your solar plexus, and one at your knees). The rope should have plenty of slack on the ground, so you can anchor it down(a 5 lb weight should do). The more slack in the rope, the more the balls will travel when you hit them. The challenge is obviously to hit the balls while they're moving, and to defend from whatever head or body shots the tennis balls throw back at you. The third ball just adds to the action and movement of the entire string, but is actuallly there to practice leg kicks.

I actually enjoy this more than the double-end bag. It's cheap, but fun, and it works. Give it a try! (i'll post pics if you want)

You look pretty good - good technique and everything but it is just shadowboxing. I would at least have to see you on the bag to make even a fair judgement. You do look pretty decent though...your style does not seem suited for the amateurs. A skilled stylist who can throw a nice 1-2-3 jab-cross-uppercut combo would probably beat you if he had some legs on him. But anyways, props for putting yourself out there.

Restraints? You mean those useless elastic contraption that you connect to your shoulder and wrist that supposedly helps 'speed'. That crap is garbage. But I would be interested to see it.

You being a fighter...you should ALWAYS have an open mind in order to get better. If you don't you need a serious ego check. I'll give the vid a look. What weight do you fight at?

BigCol

Nice clip. He looked to have a few inches and pounds on you but his legs weren't very big, compared to yours. You guys were probably around the same weight, yes? it looked like your opponent was in survival mode after a minute after that right cross you tagged him with. You have good footwork but your footspeed is somewhat slow.

im workin on my footspeed. that video is pretty old, i think like 8 months old. alot has changed like me using my jab more, keeping my hands by my ears in stead of by my chin. and we were about the same weight,165lbs. and he kept running and holding cause he said all my punches were hurting him,and i wasnt even going that hard.

im starting to jump rope to work on my footspeed though
