I know its best to start very young but does age really matter... and if so at what age. I am going to start going to a boxing gym seriously starting in january and I really want to make it a career...kinda..

also, do you get paid for amateur fights or no.

what type of insurance should boxers get.

You do not get paid for amateur fighting. That's why it's called amateur fighting.

Get as much health insurance as you can get. The company I work for is owned by a European defense contractor; I've got more health insurance than I've yet known what to do with (touch wood) and I've never been more glad for it than after I started boxing competitively.

Box because you love it, not because you think it's a wise career choice.

Thank God someone else asked this and I didn't have to. I've been watching boxing since I was around 9years old, but have not wanted to participate until just recently. As soon as I get the money I'm going to start going to the gym and training. Just hope I can afford a trainer.
