View Full Version : The Karate Kid
I just saw a commercial for the Karate Kid, it's going to be on ESPN Classic on Sunday night. The commercial got me to thinking. The Karate Kid is the reason I love martial arts so much. I believe it's to my generation what Bruce Lee is to the previous generation. It made me want to learn karate. Thank you Daniel LaRusso!
VulgarTheClown 01-02-2003, 04:29 AM OMG. it could be very true.
I'm ashamed to say Kickboxer 1 did it for me.
Who starred in that? There's so many movies that seem so similar that it's hard to keep them all straight. The American Ninja series did alot for my MA addiction also. Michael Du***off was my hero!
VulgarTheClown 01-02-2003, 04:35 AM Van Dam and Tong Po
Is that where the guy cripples Van Dammes brother? Did you ever see Best of the Best, that movie was ****ing great. I actually cried at the end of that movie, damn I'm a *****!

The guy that got crippled in that movie is a fellow local boy of Hawaii, and kickboxing champion. His name, dare I mention it for I am not worthy is none other than Dennis Alexio. He is the ****ing man.
ShootoKing 01-02-2003, 06:42 AM UFC 1 did it for me. **** that ***** Daniel.

Fallout 01-02-2003, 10:00 AM Karate Kid 1 owned, but like Vulgar, it was kickboxer 1 that did it for me.
Its funny though, now that I know more about martial arts, I watch thoses movies and laugh. Just like if you know about thing about a sharks, Jaws is funny. I know more about martial arts, so movies like kick boxer and bloodsport make me laugh.

Aaron Bizarre 01-02-2003, 10:54 AM I think it was various Chuck Norris and American Ninja movies.
Mr. Beelzebub 01-02-2003, 11:18 AM The kareta kid is the one and only reason I started practicing martial arts, which lead me to wrestling and basketball.
The karate kid opened the world of physical activities for me, sniff. That movie pumped me up back then, and even up to this day, everytime I watch it I have to go work out afterwards.
The Karate kid
Rocky
Bloodsport
handjobs4dollars 01-02-2003, 11:24 AM The karate kid is so gay. I would have owned that kid.
Aaron Bizarre 01-02-2003, 11:35 AM I would have went right for Myagi.
gathered a troop off Global and went straight to Cobra Kai and owned those dime store hoods.
Squezze 01-02-2003, 03:16 PM Gonna have to go with Bloodsport here. I love that movie.
What the hell is a Dim Mack?
seldomTap 01-02-2003, 05:57 PM Kickboxer was pretty ****en cool in the day.
Larusso was, and alwasy will be a whiny, skinny kid that got beaten on by the toughs...in reality, he would still be getting it.
Dennis Alexio from Kickboxer 1 was pretty good in his time. But Stan Longinidis broke his leg 7 seconds into a fight they had in Melbourne in the early 90's with one of the best leg kicks ever!
Kimura 01-02-2003, 06:40 PM Enter the Dragon for damn sure!
