I recently began boxing with a friend and wanted to get some advice so that I don't pick up any bad habits. There aren't any gyms near me and I don't have access to a trainer so it's pretty much just my friend and I. We usually start out with a few rounds on the heavy bag, and then spar a few rounds with one of us working on our defense while the other goes on the offensive, and then end it with a final sparring session at about 50-75% speed. Do you have any advice on what drills to perform or what to do or not do? Also how does our routine sound?

Thanks

If you dont want to pick up any bad habits then you shouldnt be hitting the bag without learning the proper stances and how to throw punches. If there isnt a gym near your area then you should search ths site for a link that had about 15 training vids on it.

Joe Frazier's book and Kenny Weldon's videos might be helpful. However, books and videos will only get you to the first stage. There is no substitute for real training.

You need a coach or trainer.....
