From MMAweekly.com........

MMAWeekly reports that Tim Sylvia has signed a contract to fight Ricco Rodriguez at UFC 41 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Sylvia is a perfect 15-0 in mixed martial arts competition and has won a few big tournament events including Super Brawl.

Rodriguez will be making his first title defense in the UFC. Rodriguez defeated Randy Couture to win the "vacant" UFC Heavyweight Championship at UFC 39.

It's believed that Rodriguez will be a big favorite by oddsmakers in Atlantic City. It all takes place at UFC 42. The other fights that have been confirmed are Pedro Rizzo vs Vladimir Matyushenko, Genki Sudo vs Josh Thompson, Phil Baroni vs Matt Lindland, BJ Penn vs Caol Uno and Matt Serra vs Din Thomas. We are still getting information about Tank Abbott's possible opponent.

Looks like the UFC is getting up a possible title shot for Matt Serra. He is the favorite to beat Thomas I assume.

It looks like a good card actually. BTW, isn't this taking place at UFC 41? Not 42?

I LOVE this card... except for the main event which doesn't really do anything for me. UFC should have had Fujita fight Ricco instead. Fujita openly challenged him on Japanese tv. Sylvia needs to be built up in the UFC more, win one or two more matches. The rest of the card is gold though, and I can't wait to see Sudo fight again

i beg to differ. i personally think that serra is a good fighter, but not worthy (atleast not yet) for a title shot. I think there are some others that have shown more (like the liddell and tito beliefs) that should be given a shot.

however, i must say that the UFC is getting ALOT more interesting.

No way Ricco loses his title anytime soon. Having a title lit a fire under that guy.

Sylvia has a monster reach advantage on Rodriguez, and Rodriguez's chin hasn't ever really been tested, so I think there's a good chance that Sylvia will be bombing away on Rodriguez. Rodriguez might have the advantage on the ground as far as submissions go, but Sylvia is a Miletich guy so you know he knows his **** on the ground.

Sylvia by TKO. Round 2.

Sylvia hasn't fought anyone of Top Ten status yet so it is hard to say. I hope he wins though because he is definitely the more entertaining fighter
