Kurt Angle appeared on Bubba the Love Sponge's satellite radio show, here are the highlights of what he had to say.

Angle stated his first "shoot" fight would take place in May or June on a "TNA broadcast." Angle commented that the fight wouldn't be in association with PRIDE or UFC, then dropped Tito Ortiz, Chuck Liddell, Randy Couture (all of whom are associated with UFC) and Daniel Puder as his potential opponents before saying that he couldn't confirm who it would be. Angle spent a lot of time running down Puder.

Angle commented he has 3 or 4 fights in him and that he was making the rules for his fight, which would see headbutts legal. He stated the "shoot fight" (his terminology) would ignite a new "wrestling war" and commented that if he lost, it would "kill his career". He said that the chances were worth taking the fight because it would do "a million PPV buys."

He praised Vince Russo as a writer, noting they get along great. Angle ignored shots Bubba took at Russo, at times talking over Bubba. Bubba began pointing out things Russo "did wrong" point by point, to which Angle commented that he had never heard of the instances before....Angle claimed he and Rob Van Dam nearly had a legitimate fight backstage after RVD messed up a spot in the ring once. He said RVD got right back in his face and didn't back down from Angle, so Angle respects him. Angle claimed Van Dam once slapped Tazz and Tazz backed down

In the course of his amateur career, Angle faced several future mixed martial artists, defeating Sylvester Terkay and losing to Mark Coleman and Mark Kerr.
He's a dumbass if he does this. One chokehold gone wrong and he's paralyzed for life .

angle would do anything to compete, injury or not. He's proved that at the olympics defeating a russian like twice his size. I dont see angle backing down from any challenge....so he lost twice, wow that is nuts. Well he still a very great wrestler, he muh hero.

Head butts allowed? Sounds like a REAL WWE match. Angle does seem to be genuinely tough. But can he take a punch? I know he's an Olympic gold medalist, so he does have skills. And he's very strong. He also has to have good cardio from the WWE. Might be interesting to see if he can transition.

Angle is crazy. In his prime he probably would have been a pretty tough MMAer. Now he is so beat up its rediculous.

he had serious neck " injuries" before .

imo if he didntimprove ifhe doesloose tocoleman he will be more likely loose this next events.

my guess is ufc will be the one cooperating with tna as pride was sorting out some deals these past few months with wwe

When did his neck injury occur? Right now he has no neck. Vinny Pazienza broke his neck, and they told him he'd never fight again.

Kurt Angle appeared on the Bubba the Love Sponge show on 12/8, which was a few days prior to his PPV match with Samoa Joe. However, he didn't talk about his upcoming match that much on show. Instead, he mostly talked about doing MMA. Angle claimed that he was planning on doing four MMA matches, the first of which would be on a TNA PPV in May or June. He said his first opponent would either be Tito Ortiz, Randy Couture, Chuck Liddell, Ken Shamrock or Daniel Puder. He also claimed that this PPV would do one million buys and head-butts would be legal.
He's out of his frickin mind

TNA has backed off in talking with Bob Sapp about a possible match with Kurt Angle after receiving a legal letter from K-1. Sapp is under contract to K-1 and they want promotions to go through them when trying to book him Looks like they are really trying to do this .

Kurt Angle Claims He's Debuting In MMA Company
Report by TNA Wrestling News Staff on 02/08/2007 at 07:48 PM

Kurt Angle appeared on WOCM in Ocean City, MD this morning for five minutes. During the interview, Angle said he has been clean from pain pills for about two years now and said he made more money for WWE than any wrestler over the past six years.

Angle then went onto say that he likes TNA more than WWE because it's more of a wrestling show than a circus act. In what was the most interesting comment during the interview, Angle stated that he is going to start soon with the EliteXC (Elite Xtreme Combat) MMA group and that he will be doing both wrestling and MMA. Seeing as Angle has been known to say some pretty outlandish comments in the media in the last few months, we have no confirmation that he is actually going to work for EliteXC at this time.

Hes an Olympic Gold medalist. That should count for something. I heard he embarrassed Brock Lesnar in the lockerroom when Brock asked for a match.

I don’t really think any MMA fan should bad mouth Pro Wrestling as if it wasn’t for companies like WWE and NJPW, chances are there would be no PRIDE and UFC would still be stuck in the dark ages.
