Roseland Ballroom, New York, New York - In the main event of the evening, Yuri Foreman (31-2) looked to continue his winning streak since he made his return to the ring in 2013 since losing back to back fights to Miguel Cotto and Pawel Wolak. Tonight Foreman faced a very tough gatekeeper in Jamaal "Da Truth" Davis (14-10-1) from Philadelphia. Davis, as always, gave it 100% in the ring but it just wasn't enough for the slick Foreman. Foreman used his superior speed, footwork, and boxing ability to put on a clinic over the course of 8 rounds. Davis, had his moments, but could not find his rhythm allowing Foreman to simply dominate. When the final bell rang after 8 rounds, the judge's scorecards read 80-72 across the boards in favor of Foreman.
The extremely exciting Heather "The Heat" Hardy (6-0) was once again victorious at a "Broadway Boxing" event, this time against the rugged Cassie Trost (1-2-1). Hardy, who has a rapidly growing fan base, showed her normal tenacity. Trost, started off well in the 1st, but the success was short lived as Hardy found her rhythm. "The Heat" started to break down Trost with a debilitating body and head attack. She was able to even out the assault. In the 4th round, the attack from Hardy was just too much and Trost took a knee. The knee was immediately followed by the ref calling a halt to the action, making Hardy the TKO winner at the 1:30 mark.
Emmanuel De Jesus (6-0) worked hard to keep his undefeated streak going against the very game Khalik Memminger (6-11-3). De Jesus used his speed advantage to keep the gritty Memminger at bay over the course at 4 rounds. Memminger had not quit in him as he tried to figure out the highly touted De Jesus, who was fighting for the 1st time in New York, which has become a 2nd home for Puerto Rican fighters. After the final bell, the jduge's scorecards read 40-36 across the board in favor of De Jesus.
Undefeated and promising DBE prospect Travis Peterkin (8-0) faced his most experienced opponent to date in Hector Hernandez (10-6-1). Even though Hernandez had more experience it was clear from the opening bell he was over matched by the young & stronger Peterkin. Peterkin controlled the action from start to finish but was unable to stop his veteran opponent. Peterkin's corner begged for him to establish the jab better in hopes of being able to set up a KO but he seemed content in just getting another notch in the W column. After the final bell, the judge's scorecards read 60-54 across the board for the winner via unanimous decision - Peterkin.
Bryant Cruz (6-0) was able to keep his undefeated streak alive but not his KO streak against Sir Lanka born fighter Nuwan Jayakody (1-2). Cruz was very impressive landing great shots to the body wearing down Jayakody looking for the KO. Unfortunately for Cruz but fortunate for fight fans, Jayakody was able to take everything Cruz threw at him even though he wasn't able to notch any rounds. At the final bell, the judge's scorecards read 40-36 across the board for your winner via Unanimous Decision Bryant Cruz.Tags: Yuri Foreman , Heather Hardy
