As the Sep. 14 Floyd Mayweather-Saul Alvarez super fight inches closer to reality, there is no shortage of buzz or exposure for this year’s biggest event.
The latest rumor that caught the sport like wildfire was of the reports of ‘Canelo’ destroying his sparring partners in his Big Bear training camp in California ahead of his challenge of Mayweather.
Stories of guys being knocked out, broken ribs, and injured shoulders were coming from Canelo’s training bases, but people, especially those close to Mayweather, seemed skeptical.
Add Mayweather’s father and head trainer Floyd Sr. to the list of those unconvinced.
“It’s a bunch of BS,” Floyd Sr. stated recently. “That’s all it is, a bunch of BS.”
Not only is Mayweather Sr. brushing off the sparring talk, he claims to be getting an inside account of how things are shaking up behind the scenes in Alvarez’s camp.
“I’m getting knowledge myself of what’s going on,” Mayweather Sr. revealed. “I’m getting a whole bunch of knowledge of what’s going on. He tells his trainers what to do and his weight is still way up. Like I said, none of that stuff is true that they’re talking about.
“I’m just saying that, something is leaking somewhere,” Mayweather Sr. added. “That’s all I’ve got to say.”
Never one to be awed by a fighter’s abilities outside of his own son, Mayweather Sr. seems to look at Alvarez as less of a threat with each passing week.
“I’m not impressed,” stated Floyd Joy. “His ass is cooked, roasted.”
