Former two-time junior middleweight champion Fernando "Feroz" Vargas (26-5, 22KOs) became the first boxer to receive a star on the Las Vegas Walk of Fame. He also announced his return to the ring on April 16th vs. Henry Buchanan (20-2, 13KOs) during the ceremony.
After the press conference BoxingScene.com reached out to Vargas to get details of his comeback. Feroz informed us that the fight will take place at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and the bout willbe fought at 168 pounds.
This is Vargas' first fight since the November 2007 defeat to Ricardo Mayorga. He lost his last three bouts before the layoff, with the other two defeates coming by way of TKO to Shane Mosley. Buchanan will not be a pushover. The only defeats on his record were to Andre Ward and Jean Paul Mendy, and both were by decision.
Vargas was the youngest junior middleweight champ ever and will fight under his own promotional banner, Vargas Entertainment Promotions.
