Former three division champion Fernando Montiel is looking for a fourth world title. He made his official super bantamweight debut on Saturday in Culiacan, Mexico, and stopped former champion Nehomar Cermeno within three rounds of action. The boxer from Venezuela refused to come out for the third round. Montiel was very nervous about the fight, because it was his first bout since the February knockout loss to Nonito Donaire. Montiel hopes to capture a world title, and then to secure a rematch with Donaire.
"I was very nervous about the fight, because I knew that if I lose for a second time [in a row] it would be a lot harder to get myself up from the floor. I knew that I had to have a clear victory and I'm very happy with the way things went. I caught him with a good hook to the liver and it was the type of shot where he would have never recovered from in the fight. I'm hoping to get a shot at another world championship and then I want to get a rematch with Donaire," Montiel said.
