Three time world champion Fernando 'Kochulito' Montiel will return to the ring on March 15 in Chiapas against another former world champion in Cristobal "Lacandon" Cruz (40-15-3, 24 KO) in a contest agreed to at the featherweight limit over ten rounds. Montiel (50-4-2, 38KOs) is fighting for the first time over eight months, and he's going to be fighting under Zanfer Promotions for the first time in two and half years.
"I'm very motivated, I was away from the ring but never walked away from the gym. I will return to the dream of getting a new championship, and Zanfer has what I require. I have been excited for this comeback," Montiel said
