| Fernando Montiel Eyes Return on June 25 in Mexico

Fernando Montiel Sr. is in Las Vegas to help Jorge "Travieso" Arce prepare for his super bantamweight title shot versus Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. The fight is the co-featured bout underneath the Manny Pacquiao-Shane Mosley mega fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV.
The elder Montiel advised BoxingScene.com that his son with his namesake is looking to return to the ring on June 25th in Mexico. It will be Montiel's first fight since his devastating knockout loss to Nonito Donaire in February. "He (Fernando) is coming back on June 25th in Mexico. It is just a little fight to get him back in the ring."
Montiel (44-3-2) is moving up to super bantamweight and is looking to capture a world title in a 4th weight division. His father said that he had a nice rest and dismissed rumors that his son had a fractured jaw. "There was nothing wrong with his jaw. He took a nice little rest and now he is better than ever. He really struggled to make 118 and he will be even better at 122 pounds."
His opponent has not been determined yet.

Think w/some sense/vic & WV2 are not going to mex on the 25...WV2 handles vic w/no problem. |

He should fight WV2 first because he wants to fight for a title. That would be a more respectable fight for WV2 even though he'd still have great advantages. |

Wow, most boxers take an extended vacation after a loss like that. Good to hear he's well and will be fighting soon |
