WBA middleweight champion Felix Sturm (37-2-2, 16KOs) has continued to hurl insults at the new WBO super middleweight beltholder Arthur Abraham.
Last Saturday in Berlin, Abraham (35-3, 27KOs) captured his current title with a hard-fought decision over Robert Stieglitz. This Saturday in Oberhausen, Sturm will face IBF champion Daniel Geale in a unification bout.
With a very important fight only days away, Sturm has been distracted by a recent report where Abraham's promoter, Sauerland Event, said Sturm turned down multiple offers to face Abraham.
Rather than talk about Geale, he continues to lash out at Abraham.
"Abraham suffered three devastating defeats. His management found the easiest way to lead him to the championship. They know that against the champions of the other federations they have no chance. Abraham selected a lightweight contender [to fight for a title], not a fighter of the same caliber like Dirrell, Froch or Ward - in a battle with them, he will be mercilessly beaten again. He has nothing to look for among the elite at middleweight. He is not a world class fighter," Sturm said.
While Abraham was defeated by the best at his weight, he still fought the best at his weight and took some of those fights in other countries. Sturm has been criticized for his failure to face the best fighters in his division, like Gennady Golovkin, Sergio Martinez and Kelly Pavlik, and his reluctance to leave Germany.
