Evensen Ready To Finish Business in Esbjerg Showdown

Andreas Evensen (17-3-1, 6 KOs) announced his return to boxing this week following a thirteen-month hiatus from the sport. The Norwegian fighter will make his comeback at the Nordic Fight Night on April 12th at the Blue Water Dokken in Esbjerg, Denmark against Kakhaber Avetisian (32-21-1, 15 KOs).

‘’Boxing is the sport I love,’’ said Evensen. ‘’But it took a break and a change of environment for me to rediscover my passion. Now I have it back, I realise that there is so much more I want to do and accomplish - I have unfinished business!’’

To prepare for his return, Evensen has enlisted the help of Ricky Burns’ trainer Billy Nelson and based himself at the renowned Scottish coach’s Glasgow gym.

‘’Billy is a very hard trainer, much like my former coach Helge Wærøy. While I am very thankful for everything Helge did for me, I felt the time was right for a change. Billy is able to offer a fresh pair of eyes and a new perspective, which I need in order to develop.’’

Evensen is currently sparring with WBA Super Bantamweight Champion Scott Quigg. The 28 year-old believes this will give him an extra edge when he steps into the ring on April 12th.

‘’Sparring with a world champion is the perfect preparation for this fight. I have been getting some really tough work in the gym with Scott. When I face Avetisian in Esbjerg I will be approaching the fight as though I am facing a world champion.’’

Tickets for the Nordic Fight Night in Esbjerg are available at billetten.dk.
