Former four-time heavyweight world titlist Evander 'The Real Deal' Holyfield believes that Britain’s Tyson Fury has brought something different to the division since dethroning the long-reigning Champion Wladimir Klitschko in November.
Fury (25-0, 18KOs) won by decision after an uneventful fight to capture the IBO/WBA/IBF/WBO world tiles. He talked a lot in the build-up to the bout and has been asked to carry on airing his views by the man who twice defeated Mike Tyson.
“I think Fury has helped boxing because he's different,” stated Holyfield when speaking to Gavin Glicksman of The Sun.
Holyfield added about Fury:
“He looks like a basketball player, he doesn't look coordinated, but he actually does what he says he's going to do. You can't shut him up but what he says makes sense. He's good for the game. He'll tell you how he feels about somebody. If he thinks you're a bum, he's going to call you a bum. When people brag a lot, they have to back it up. If they don't back it up they're going to embarrass themselves. So with Fury, at least you know you've got something to look forward to.”
Fury is currently waiting on a date and location for the contracted rematch with Klitschko, which is expected to take place in Germany in May. However, his team are also exploring the option of bringing the return to British shores if it makes financial sense. The original target date was May 7th, which is now going to change with Amir Khan finalizing a fight with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez for the same date in Las Vegas.
