Former world champion Juan Francisco "El Gallo" Estrada of Mexico is in Los Angeles to officially announce his fight on February 24th at the Inglewood Forum, when he aims to capture the World Boxing Council (WBC) super flyweight championship.
Earlier today, Estrada was a guest on the program "A los Golpes" that is recorded in the ESPN studios in downtown Los Angeles.
Along with Estrada was Puerto Rican boxer McWilliams Arroyo, who will face Mexico's Carlos Cuadras in the co-featured attraction of Superfy 2.
The Mexican veteran will face the Srisaket Sor Rungvisai of Thailand in the main event.
Both Estrada and Arroyo will be at a press conference tomorrow to make the official announcement of the card that will be televised by HBO as part of their "Boxing after Dark" series.
Estrada has read a lot of comments, where experts are picking Sor Rungvisai to win the bout - because Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez holds a solid decision victory over Estrada, and Sor Rungvisai secured back to back wins over Gonzalez last year - including a brutal four round knockout of the Nicaraguan fighter in their fall rematch.
But styles make fights, says Estrada.
"I know a lot of people think that Sor Rungvisai is going to beat me and knock me out, because he looked very good against Román" Chocalate "González, but boxing is a matter of styles. Cuadras beat Rugvisai, and I beat Cuadras, but we both lost with Gonzalez.... one fight has nothing to do with the other. I'm preparing for a tough fight and to win the world championship," Estrada said.
