WBC light flyweight champion Esmeralda "Joya" Moreno (25-6, 9KOs) had the best year of her life in 2012, conquering the WBC female world title and then successfully defended her crown. Promoted by Boxeo de Gala, she won her last twelve bouts - which includes the WBC title win over unbeaten Japanese boxer Naomi Togashi.

She is expected to defend her crown in Japan on a March date.

Esmeralda said - "This year I conquered one of my dreams, but none of this would have been possible without my team and my Family. I want to thank my parents for all their support. My promoter, Fausto Garcia, has just told me that I will fight in Japan in March, so as soon as the holidays end I will begin training."
