Erislandy Lara: record, next fight and profile →
Erislandy Lara is right in that age range. He’s just a few months away from turning 41 and the rest of the middleweight division’s top guys are considerably younger. Michael Zerafa is one of those younger guys making a name for himself. On March 30th, he’ll do his best to knock Lara off his high horse when they square off.
Middleweight contender Michael Zerafa is a few weeks away from his mandatory fight with WBA world champion Erislandy Lara. Their fight takes place on March 30 in Las Vegas - as part of the card that features Zerafa's Australian rival, WBO 154-pound champion Tim Tszyu, who faces Keith Thurman in the main event.
Austin Williams considered Connor Coyle and the opponent that replaced him on less than one week’s notice, Armel Mbumba-Yassa, steps down in opposition from Steve Rolls, the Canadian contender he soundly defeated on points in the bout before he dropped Mbumba-Yassa twice and beat him by seventh-round technical knockout Saturday in Las Vegas.
On March 30th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, WBA middleweight world champion Erislandy Lara will defend his belt against mandatory challenger Michael Zerafa. Their fight will be part of the first Premier Boxing Champions on Amazon Prime pay-per-view event.
A pair of all-action, high-stakes showdowns will top a stacked four-fight pay-per-view event as two-time world champion Keith “One Time” Thurman duels rising star and reigning world champion Tim Tszyu in the main event while 140-pound world champion Rolando “Rolly” Romero and Mexican star Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz meet in the co-main event on Saturday, March 30 in the inaugural PBC Pay-Per-View available on Prime Video from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Erislandy Lara and Michael Zerafa have finally found common ground. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that a deal was struck for their long overdue mandatory WBA middleweight title fight. The two will meet on March 30 as part of the inaugural Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on Amazon Prime from a Las Vegas venue to be determined.
Erislandy Lara is back on the hook to honor a long overdue mandatory title defense. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that the WBA has ordered Lara to next defend his middleweight title versus Australia’s Michael Zerafa. Both parties were notified of the development on Monday via official letter, a copy of which was obtained by BoxingScene.com.
Michael Zerafa has grown beyond tired of waiting for his overdue title shot. More than a year has passed since the Melbourne, Australia native has last been in the ring. The majority of his downtime is attributed to having to wait out an Erislandy Lara-Danny Garcia WBA middleweight title fight, for which he was contractually guaranteed to face the winner as the mandatory challenger.
At one point, you couldn’t talk about the best fighters in the world without mentioning Jarrett Hurd. The Maryland native often used his size, strength, and power to get rid of his opponents. His dominant form of attack led to a unified title run at 154 pounds and recognition as a fringe pound-for-pounder. But just when everything was clicking, it suddenly wasn’t.
Australian boxer Michael Zerafa will be heading to the United States, where he intends to train on a full-time basis for a world title shot in 2024. Zerafa is the mandatory challenger to WBA middleweight champion Erislandy Lara.
