After serving in his second week as trainer, former four division world champion Erik 'Terrible' Morales is very pleased with the work he is getting from undefeated Jessie Vargas (26-0, 9KOs), who challenges Timothy Bradley (31-1, 12 KO) on June 27th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. The fight will have the vacant welterweight title of the World Boxing Organization at stake. In championship fights, Jessie is 3-0.
Vargas has worked with several trainers over the years; most recently he was working with former four division champion Roy Jones Jr.
Morales has planned out a very aggressive strategy to bring the fight to Bradley. He doesn't want Bradley to get comfortable in the ring and wants to keep pressure on him at all times.
"Jessie is a young man who learns fast. He's a great fighter, very strong and healthy and that's a big advantage. I'm positive that Jessie will put pressure on him, but intelligently. He can mix in boxing and use his strength against Bradley, who likes to go into his comfort zone in the ring to fight back, but we will attack and not allow him to think," Morales told ESPN Deportes.
"Jessie is the best fighter I have ever trained and I will be working with him, because this is the biggest fight of his career against Timothy Bradley. We will win this fight."
