Erik Morales Injures Hand, Jorge Paez Fight in Doubt

By Salvador Rodriguez

According to sources in Mexico, former four division world champion Erik Morales may possibly have to postpone his return, due to a suspected hand injury. Morales is scheduled to fight on March 22 against Jorge Paez Jr. in a ten round welterweight at the the Arena Monterrey.

Before Morales announces a possible postponement or cancellation, he wants the hand to get examined by a doctor. However, there are already rumors floating around that Paez may now face now Breidiss Prescott if Morales withdraws.

"First I must see a doctor. We had a great training camp. I do not take anything for granted. I'll wait to see what happens," said Morales, without disclosing any details regarding the injury.

The fight would be the first for Morales in 17 months, since a 2012 knockout loss at the hands of Danny Garcia.
