| Erik Morales: I Need To Be Perfect To Beat Matthysse

By Jhonny Gonzalez Tijuana's Erik Morales expects a tougher challenger in his upcoming fight with Lucas Matthysse, scheduled for September 17 in Las Vegas. Morales will face Matthysse for the vacant WBC junior welterweigh title on the Floyd Mayweather-Victor Ortiz undercard. Morales compares Matthysse to his April opponent Marco Maidana, who beat the Mexican icon with twelve round majority decision. Morales says that he can't afford to lose to Matthysse, because landing another title opportunity will be a challenge. "Unlike the fight I had with Marcos Maidana, I can not fail against Matthysse, who is a similar fighter, equally strong, but has better boxing [skills] and that forces me to be better, to find the perfect match, the perfect game plan," Morales told Sal Rodriguez. "This is the biggest fight of my life, there's a lot to prove. No matter what you may think, that I'm crazy for taking the fight - I know what to do and what I can do." I used to Like Erik Morales, but since he started working as a commentator he is a dumbass, he thinks he is the utlimate boxing god, bashing all mexican current champions.
This guy is done, his lack of dicipline, the fact that after everyfight he wins like 50 pounds.. and so on. |

straight punches are harder to slip than looping ones
mathysse will have it easier than chino in terms of trying to mount meaningful offense
chino's bombs are relatively easy to slip
mathysse throws that right hand to the body / chest straight

If Morales performs to the standard he did against Maidana then this will be a War, if he doesn't then Lucas does what many people though Maidana would have done and that's win a one sided fight by KO. |
