Pierre-Charbonneau Centre, Canada - SP Promotion offered another exciting evening filled with action. In the main bout of the evening, heavyweight Eric Barrak (4-0-0) is shaken in the first few seconds, but he quickly regained control of the situation,an clocked American Matt Weishaar (4-2-2), a resident of Kansas who has fought in Iraq in particular. Weishaar resumed the fight, but very briefly, and was stopped by TKO at 1:51 of the first.
The co-feature was a bout between John Wayne (4-2-0) at Sylvera Louis (3-1-0). The two heavyweights from Montreal returned from defeat and this confrontation was set to give the winner a way to get back on track, but it was Louis who scored a big fourth round knockout to win.
Light heavyweights Francois Miville (0-1-0) and Stéphane Landry (1-0-0) offered the fight of the evening and one of the most exciting bouts to be fought in Quebec in a long time. In fact, Miville, a former semi-professional hockey player, dominated his rival in with many power strokes during the first two rounds. Landry used his opponent's fatigue to start getting back in the fight in the third. In the last round, fatigue did it's work. The crowd remained standing for three minutes of the round as both boxers battled. Landry, however, powered on and sent Miville down three times for the TKO win. A rematch would certainly be appreciated.
In a heavyweight bout, Ukrainian Andryi Ivanov (5-6-0) picked up a win by unanimous decision over tough Stephane Tessier (3-27-1).
In the opener, Mick Gadbois (1-0-0) won by split decision over Ontarian James Carpio (1-1-0). A highly controversial decision because judge Dale Suddaby scored 36-40, which was completely different from the scores of his colleagues.
According to information available, the room contained between 1200 and 1300 people, and certainly the spectators experienced different emotions during the show. Stephane Payette stated early in the evening that he plans to make a second show in late April or early May. If he sticks to the formula that was served, he could certainly create a lot of interest among fans and build an even bigger following of the series.
