Enzo Maccarinelli Will Return on Cleverly-Karpency Bill

By Phil D. Jay

Former WBO cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli (33-5, 26KOs) will participate in his second bout at the 175-poundlimit at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff on February 25th on the undercard of rival Nathan Cleverly’s WBO title defence against Tommy Karpency.

The 31-year-old, who has been linked to a future fight with Cleverly, has made a successful start at the new weight after boiling down 25lbs and his opponent will to be announced in the near future.

Maccarinelli scored a 99 second knockout in his first fight at the lower limit and hopes to move up the light-heavyweight rankings swiftly in order to secure a future challenge against compatriot Cleverly, possibly in 2012.

He needs to stick to commentating (just like Roy) he's good at it, don't wanna see Enzo becoming the welsh Jermaine Taylor, and getting sparked brutally in every meaningful fight he has.

Good luck to him. I'm personally of the view that he should focus on his ringside work, but if he still feels he has something left....... He looked sharp last bout although I felt the stoppage was premature.
